A beautiful 35-minute drive from Hobart, nestled between Kettering (1km to Bruny Island Ferry) and Woodbridge Village is Wixwood, a comfortable, cosy, stylish, one-bedroom, ground floor, guest suite with covered patio and scenic views. Wixwood’s eastern aspect and 180-degree view of Bruny Island's ferry crossing and the D’Entrecasteaux Channel provides a perfect spot to watch sunrises, night skies and the occassional auroras while exploring our great region. The space Wixwood would make a delightful base for you to explore the Great Southern Edge Drive and Bruny Island or a convenient location to sing and dance the weekend away at the Cygnet Folk Festival (20-minute drive) or a wedding held at Peppermint Bay. Also, for all of you Aurora hunters, Trial Bay is only less than a kilometre away. Imagine having a nearby base to recharge your batteries, literally and figuratively. Stay warm and cosy knowing that you can be back on-site within a moments notice upon receiving an Aurora alert. We have ensured that Wixwood has all the modern conveniences: wifi, smart tv, electric fireplace, fridge, microwave/convection oven, pod coffee machine, double-glazing, as well as plenty of board games and books for your entertainment. This quiet apartment, full of Tasmanian art, provides you with plenty of space to relax and enjoy. And you never know, if you are lucky, you might just spy some of our other local residents (pademelons, wallabies, possums and the occassional echidna), while enjoying everything we have to offer. The Wixwood apartment is located on the ground level, and has its own entrance, and a large, covered patio with outdoor seating. Large dual aspect picture windows grace the lounge. One with a commanding view of the front garden and Bruny Island and the other overlooking the wisteria rockery, a special setting for enjoying your morning beverages. . Curl up on the large leather sofa and footstool or settle into the reading chair in front of the electric fireplace. There are warm throws to wrap yourself in, with books, games and puzzles to keep you occupied. Relax into the comfy Queen sized bed and delight in its warmth and sumptuous bedding. An electric blanket is on the bed, should you need it for one of our chilly nights, or conversely there is a noise free fan for those few warm nights. Electric lap blankets are also available for sitting on the lounge. Warm, happy and relaxed is our aim. A small but fully functional Kitchenette sits alongside of the Lounge with a cosy breakfast bar for two. We provide a convection microwave oven to heat/reheat food you purchase. A kettle, toaster, pod coffee machine and a sandwich press maker are available, as well as a fridge/freezer with ice cubes at the ready. There are a selection of condiments, including Wixwood award-winning jams, and all the makings for a delightful breakfast. Hobart and the Channel area have a many fabulous dine in/ take out eateries, which we are happy to share with you. Clean with high-quality appliances, amenities, furniture, bedding and crockery. It has a warm and welcoming interior. All the art on display is local, some of it award winning. We have given the apartment a distinct Aussie feel, from the wallaby and cockatoo lamp to the kookaburra chair coverings. We’ve always wanted people to enjoy it as much as we do. The roomy, light-filled bathroom has a large walk-in shower with fluffy towels for drying yourself. It is accompanied by shampoos, conditioners, gel soaps, and hairdryer, it is perfect for refreshing yourself. The parking area is large and can accommodate oversized/trailered vehicles, and is just meters from the/your front door. Other things to note We at Wixwood use rain water to fill our water tanks, so please be mindful of water usage, the environment and conserve where you can. The apartment can, if requested, accommodate one child, pre-crawling age only. The on-site pond is large and deep, and we need to be mindful of children’s safety. If secure storage is required during your stay (eg bicycles, kayaks, camping gear, additional luggage etc) that can be arranged.
