Ili's Homestay : experience the fijian life!

Bula ! We are Ili and Max, from Gunu village on Naviti Island, Yasawa, Fiji. We were both born in Gunu and we welcome travelers since 2021. As a family, with two kids, we value a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for our guests, to make you feel at home away from home! Come stay with us in the middle of the village, next to the beach and surrounded by coconut trees! But be careful, you'll definitely fall in love with Gunu (you'll not be able to say you were not warned 😉) The space We have three rooms depending on how many people are travelling: . one double bedroom . two single berooms . another double bedroom available next door in my sister's house. Mosquitoe net provided. Meals : breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided: it is fijian homemade cooking! We often eat fresh fish caught that day, and freshly baked breakfast pastries and cakes! There are plenty of coconuts around our island, so you won't go thirsty! If you are vegetarian or pescitarian, please inform me 😉 _ Price : $20 FJD on airbnb + $60 FJD for 3 meals plan = $80 FJD in total, per person per night. Included accommodation and 3 delicious and hearty meals! The 60 FJD remaining are only payable upon arrival in cash please, as we don't have EFTPOS in the whole village here. _ Hammocks available in front of our house, where you can unwind, read a book, talk with locals, and chill in serenity of the surrounding. _ Solar panels : you can charge all your devices. _ 4G : the reception in Gunu is OK, especially on the beach. Otherwise it is quite fluctuating depending on where you are in the village and the weather. Anyway, here you'll probably be away from your phone most of the time , being involved in the present monent with the locals and yourself. We don't have wifi, but we're sure you'll find a better connection here! Guest access From PORT DENARAU : . South Sea cruise : departure everyday at 8:30 am, no booking needed, just arrive early at the pier to buy your tickets. Otherwise it's possible to book on their website or chatting with them through their whatspp number. . Drop off at Mai Sunset resort after 3 hours. . Pick up at the resort with the speed boat of a local villager. One person 30$ for one way. . The ferry knows exactly how to organize the transfer, everything will go smoothly :) . Drop-off on the beach of Gunu village where we will welcome you. From LAUTOKA: . Seabus cruise The breathtaking long white sandy beach just few steps from our front door will quickly hit your heart. The shallow part is free from corals, no reef shoes needed, and we can show you where the corals and the marine life are. During your stay We will be with you 24/7, so feel free to ask whatever you need or want to know about the village, people, Yasawan lifestyle, accommodation, boat transfers, anything, we are for you and to make your stay with us the loveliest possible :) You'll have your own room and privacy and you'll be able to share our daily life with us, sitting all together having meals, inside or outside under the shelter, play with the kids, having tea, talk, telling stories, and have fun. Fijian love to laugh and make jokes. During the day, there is much to do around the island. Us locals love taking you to hike, snorkel or farm our local food. This is a unique homestay, you really become part of our village for the duration of your stay. Other things to note During your stay, you will be able to: . BEACH : long white sandy beach. The shallow part is free from corals, where you can easily swim without reef shoes, and play with all the kids in the village. You can also pick up seaweeds with locals or do spearfishing in the bay with them. . SNORKELING: we can bring you by boat to some amazing spots around the island, and to a plane wreck from WW2. . HIKING : some paths can bring you to the hills around with stunning views on the village, the bay, and enjoy wonderful sunsets. You can also walk to the two others villages in the bay, and even go to the high school on the other side of the island with the students. . VILLAGE LIFE : last but not least! Definitely the best part of your stay here. The atmosphere here is really relax, no hurry no worries. What makes Gunu so special is the people. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, curious, funny, full of joy with a good heart. You can hang out in the village and be asked to join locals into their house for a tea, pick up some coconuts on the beach, help some farmers at the back of the village, going to church on Sunday, visit the primary school in Gunu or join the teenagers to the high school on the other sideof the island, play with the kids all day long, play volleyball and rugby with adults around 5:30 pm at the school, bonfires on the beach at night with guitar and fijian singing, and of course try the kava ceremony. *PLEASE NOTE* : We will share with you our local customs in the village. . Women are kindly requested to wear clothes covering knees and shoulders as a sign of respect to our culture. . No swim on Sundays as is the most respected day to our Lord. . A contribution of 10 FJD upon arrival will be collected for the village chief as a ''sevusevu'', a customary gesture to show appreciation for being welcomed into the community. .
