Cragsmoor's Hillcrest House with a View
Cragsmoor's Hillcrest House with a View
Description
Come relax with friends and family in this tranquil eagle's nest of a house on the edge of a Catskills mountain. Sip coffee or cocktails on the comfortable porch with perfect 50+ mile views of the Catskills and Shawangunk Ridge, cook in the newly remodeled kitchen or cozy up to a fire while leaf peeping through the window. Luxuriate in the bathtub, hike to more views - it's the perfect mix of old-world charm and modern amenities. A truly special place and space to renew and reset. The space Built in 1896, our 4 bedroom home sits in the heart of the historic artists colony of Cragsmoor. The porch out back has simply breathtaking views of the Catskills- you may want to sit there all day with a book and glass of wine to take it all in. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a deck that gets plenty of sun. The 2-acre yard has plenty of room for playing around. We're steps from the Cragsmoor Stone Church, and stunning nearby hiking trails abound- from Sam's Point (5-10 min drive) to Bear Hill (walk from the house) to Minnewaska State Park and more. 2 other spacious bedrooms (including a bunk bed that sleeps 3 and lots of kids toys and books) and an attic with some additional sleeping space ensure there's plenty of room (note, the attic is truly an attic, far from fancy and mattresses are on the floor and ceiling are low. But the view is spectacular. So better for the kids and less particular adults.) If you need to work there are two work spaces- one in the master bedroom and one small office overlooking the view. The office also has a small bed for a smaller person. The village of Ellenville is a short (~13 min) drive down the mountain for groceries, restaurants and bars, and we're also near Pine Bush (~15 min), New Paltz (~30 min) and Kingston (~45 min). The area is renowned for hang gliding- pull off on rt 52 on your way to Ellenville and watch them take off. Soaking tub with a view sits right behind the gorgeous stained glass at the top of the stairs. Wood stove is great for cozying up in the living room when it's cold, and a/c keeps the house comfortable when it's hot. Guest access The whole house is yours. Other things to note We want you to have a good time, but please keep it down outside at night- we love our neighbors. The house is a family home and while dressers and closets are all yours, it is not pristine; some of our things live there and some areas outside are still a work in progress. Currently there is no TV, however we do have a projector and speakers that can be connected to your computer.
