What a beauty?! This sumptuous little hut is an absolute jewel. Treat yourself to a very unique stay in the grounds of The Downes Estate, on the outskirts of Crediton and only 8 miles from Exeter. With log burner, outside tub and unparalleled views across the lush landscape down to the River Creedy, this is as peaceful and rural idyll as they come. Access to the tennis courts. The space A magnificent example of the modern shepherd hut, The Cow Shed has been a labour of love for the owners. Inside and out, the living areas ooze style, comfort and high end furnishing. For individuals seeking solitude and creative space, or couples looking for some stripped back intimacy, look no further. Inside you'll find just enough to keep you self sufficient come summer or winter; a small kitchenette, log burner, dining table and sumptuous sofa which looks out over the grounds. A beautiful and comfortable king bed with fine linen, completes this cosiest of living spaces. There is also a very tranquil and relaxing shower room and toilet at the end of the hut. Outside the main attraction has to be the sheltered bath tub. After drawing a hot bath and soaking up the effortless and endless countryside views, you'd be hard pressed to not completely switch off here. There are ample places to sit and read and sunbathe around the hut, a bbq, pizza oven and probably the occasional cow at the fence in case you get lonely. Locally Crediton is a bustling market town with stacks of history. It is a short drive or walkable for the more energetic. You'll find everything from independent retailers, grocers, charity shops and restaurants to large supermarkets and even a train station connecting to Exeter or North Devon. Exeter is obviously a short drive or train journey away, with superb shopping, sports, dining and culture to be had. Guests staying at The Cow Shed have the oppurtunity to relax and recouperate in one of Devon's most picturesque parklands, but also within the grounds of one of the county's most historic estates. Built in 1692 by Moses Gould, 'Downes' is indeed the historic home of Devon's renowned General, Sir Redvers Buller VC. Over 300 years since it was built, the family home continues to be treasured, and now visiting guests have a most unique opportunity to stay in a very special and loved part of Devon. Important Property Notes: Unfortunately owing to the close proximity to the estate livestock and farmland, The Cow Shed does not accept dogs, even the best behaved ones. Parking is available at the main house parking area, with the hut only a short walk through the gardens - a pull along trolley is available to cart you possessions and rations to the hut. Guests please note, that although The Cow Shed is sited within the grounds of The Downes Estate, no access to or tours of the main house are implied or provided by staying here.
