Description

Snowy adventures in 2026! - We've got the snow this winter in the Adirondacks. The Ranch is centrally located to some great trails for snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snowshoe hikes, and down hill skiing. The Saranac River Ranch is located on a 25 acre farm and cold pressed juicery. You can have access to fresh eggs, local food and healthy juices during your stay - you may even choose to do one of our popular juice cleanses while you're here! The space The newly renovated barn apartment is located upstairs in the hay loft. The kitchen, includes a full sized refrigerator, dishwasher, convection oven, air fryer, microwave and induction cook top. It is also stocked with the basics you will need to prepare meals and fresh eggs for breakfast. There are high ceilings throughout the space and the great room has beautiful views of the mountains and farm pastures. The TV has roku service so you can login to your accounts to watch your favorite programs or movies. There are a few games and books too. Saranac River Ranch is a 25 acre farm located on the Saranac River. Feel free to explore the river front and pastures along the back of the property beyond the horse pasture. There is a beautiful spot with a bench to sit along the river that you might enjoy. There is also river access for swimming, kayaking or fishing. We are a working farm/homestead with horses, dairy goats, Kune kune pigs, a llama and chickens. So you will probably catch me around the farm for morning and evening chores. I do keep a low profile and try not to disturb. We have a new high tunnel on the property for fruit and vegetable production that you are welcome to visit and harvest some basics for your stay with us. In the base level of the barn we also grow micro greens that are super tasty and very nutritious. They are available for sale, as are the cold pressed juices we make here and fresh eggs. We are about 5 miles outside of Saranac Lake Village, 20 minutes from Lake Placid and about 40 minutes to Whiteface Mountain. Paul Smith's college is about a 15 minute drive and there are excellent trails at the Visitors Interpretive Center. There's a nice easy hike to Moose Pond just up the road as well as access to the famous ADK 46 High Peaks. Guest access We ask that you use the first door to the barn. Once inside the apartment entrance will be on your left. You may use the large open space downstairs to store your gear. In the warmer seasons you are welcome use the outdoor furniture, picnic table, grill and outdoor fire pit. Please park alongside the barn, leaving the lane open in case other vehicles need access. Additionally please do not block access to the pole barn were we store equipment. This is a working farm so the fences around the pastures are electrified and they are on - you will get a shock if you touch the wire. In addition, please do not feed any of the animals. It can be very dangerous should they choke or have a reaction to foods that they are not supposed to have. Gates and doors must remain closed at all times. We would never want any of our farm animals to get out into the road, we appreciate your close attention to that while you are here. Other things to note We do not offer any horseback riding programs here for the public at this time. If you are interested in interacting with Wizard or Raven please let me know and I will try to make some time to accommodate that during feeding times. Wizard is somewhat more outgoing than Raven, as she is a wild mustang that was rescued and retrained some time ago. We have baby goats in the spring/summer and they can be a lot of fun to be around as well. They live in the little barn beyond the horse barn with their Moms and a Llama named Esmerelda. The Llama guards the herd from Coyotes and other predators. She is not the friendliest of creatures so make sure to give her space. If you go into their pen out there through the chicken house, be mindful that the goats will try to rush the door to get to the food supply, please make sure they do not enter the barn.
