Description

Bring your row boat or kayak and fish on a stocked pond to your hearts content. Be it ever so humble, stay in a home where love lives. Sunsets on the pond are the real treasure here. We’re a hop skip and jump in the Finger Lakes region with hiking, waterfalls, vineyards, museums and tourism. And we’ve got some of the best fishing anywhere. Whether you stay to relax, or make it a place to stop in while you bounce around beautiful upstate New York; we look forward to welcoming you home. The space Our home gets visited by our family and guests, so we want to extend the opportunity to you. It’s a project we are working on so stop in again, and leave us some feedback so we can continue our journey of sharing our home with others with recommended improvements. If you plan to do all of your cooking in the home, please bring your own food and spices. The humidity on the mountain makes for spices to harden quickly. For those in need of accommodation, our home is mostly on one level, but there is a small step between two parts of the home where it was expanded. To get in the home you have to get across the porch of the garage and then down two steps to get to the front door, or walk across the lawn for no steps. The home is kept cool with one window air conditioner in the dining area, and at night, a reverse air window fan. Each room has portable tower fan units. You may want to bring more bed pillows for a full house and maybe some kitchen utensils, but we have just enough pillows for 6 and a hodgepodge of utensils and cookware available. The house does have some reading materials: Bibles, Studies, Mystery, Suspense, political books, and some kids books. We also have a wardrobe of board games, cards, and local brochures are located throughout. Guest access The Garage should not be entered at any time. The room next to the twin bedroom should also not be entered. You might want a bigger crock pot or something from the pantry, but double check dates on food products. People often leave canned goods there after a stay. Other things to note BREATHING - This is a pond side Bungalow home. Because of the humidity of the mountain and the pond, it might take an hour or so with open sliding glass door to allow the home to “air out and “breathe” if it’s been vacant for a bit prior to your arrival. We’ve found that a few people who have been to our home mistake the musty smell of a locked up home as a concern for them. 9 out of 10 guests never mentioned it and have been completely satisfied, but we feel we should issue that statement to our home being a bungalow in a humid climate. Even though we’ve incorporated airing the home out as best as we can in our cleaning services, it depends on how long the home has been vacated prior to your arrival. We have an air purifier at the home to assist with air purification if you want to use it. But we don’t turn it on prior to your arrival as many people don’t like the artificial “fresh” smell that it radiates. Ice maker in the refrigerator is not filtered so does not work. Our pond out back is full of Pickerel, Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Perch, Panfish and Catfish. Don’t let the large Grass Carp frighten you but they are there too. Hiking local: Grimes Glen in Naples, wet shoes are often needed. You can cool off in the stream. There are two waterfalls. Mossey Bank Park in Bath is good for walking, hiking, and mountain biking. It has a nice playground. Stoney Brook State Park in Dansville offers a swimming area as well as great hiking. There is a cost though. There is also a camp site there with additional costs associated for camping. But a day of swimming on the hiking trail can be fun. Oak Orchard in Oak Orchard NY is a 2 hour drive for day trips for Salmon fishing. Avoca has a nice playground in town behind the school.
