Gardiner Shores Cottage

Take a break and unwind at this peaceful oasis. This quaint and fully-equipped cottage on Gardiner Lake is located in the heart of the boreal forest of north eastern Ontario. Ideal place for those who like the outdoors; people who enjoy nature, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, stargazing, riding on ATVs, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling (located two kilometers by sled from the world famous Abitibi Canyon trail). There are many local attractions offered in nearby communities as well. The space At Gardiner Shores we offer a two bedroom heated cottage with a sofa bed in the living room. There is a three piece bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. There is a full kitchen with range, sink, and mini-fridge upstairs with an island separating the kitchen from the living area. There is a full-size fridge in the basement along with a clothes washer and dryer. In the winter there is a sitting area with a dart board ready for use. The cottage includes high-speed internet and a cell-phone booster. A TV is not provided. If you are so inclined, please bring a tablet or computer for viewing. Also, if you enjoy listening to music, podcasts, or audio books, we recommend you bring a wireless speaker to enhance your listening enjoyment. All kitchen amenities are provided along with fresh sheets and blankets on the beds with spares stored in the main-floor closet. Plenty of bath towels and face clothes are also provided. Water is pumped from the lake for showering, toilet, and cleaning. Guests are provide with 24 bottles of water for drinking and cooking. Guests are expected to provide additional water if needed. In the warm weather guests have access to a pool table and shuffleboard in the warehouse close to the cottage. The cottage is on Gardiner Lake which has a plentiful supply of Walleye and Pike to challenge even the best of the anglers out there. Guest are encouraged to bring their own watercraft; fishing boats, canoes, or kayaks. Arrangements can be made to rent a fishing boat or two kayaks if desired. In addition, there are hundreds of kilometres of off-road trails to be explored in the warm months with ATVs. Other things to note One activity our guests enjoy is to take the Polar Bear Express train to Moosonee from Cochrane. Our guests can arrange to be picked up by the train right at our driveway on the way to Moosonee and get dropped off at our driveway on the way back. This saves them 2.5 hours on the return trip.
