Description
Nether Spring Cottage is a recently renovated, two bedroom, 19th century railway cottage, in the pretty village of Rowsley. It lies midway between Bakewell and Matlock, which are both under 10 minutes’ drive from the cottage. The iconic Chatsworth House & Gardens and medieval Haddon Hall are even closer. The house is within the Peak District National Park and a myriad of fantastic walks in stunning countryside are on the doorstep. This area is also popular with climbers and cyclists. The space Nether Spring is a much loved second home and has been tastefully renovated to provide a high quality comfortable environment. The living room has two bespoke made double sofas, a Scandinavian rocking chair and the original open fireplace, which burns logs and smokeless fuel. There is a smart TV with freeview, and apps for your streaming services, and a DVD player with a good selection of films. There is also a range of books, maps, local walking books and guides. There is a bluetooth speaker and a number of puzzles and board games. Broadband gives at least 30MG and is perfectly adequate for several people to work from home. The kitchen diner has a range electric cooker and is very well-equipped with plenty of cookware and utensils. There is a dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer and a washer drier. The dining table seats four. There is a cafetiere and a stove top coffee-maker. The main bedroom has a super king sized bed that can be separated into two large singles, if required. There is also a workstation in this room with a screen available for use. There is a smaller second bedroom with a double bed. The bathroom is upstairs and has an overhead shower and generous sized bath. To the rear of the property there is a small courtyard garden with table and chairs. Both the small front and rear gardens are fully enclosed. The village of Rowsley has several options for eating out. The Peacock Hotel offers fine dining, The Grouse and Claret Pub offers more traditional pub food. Peak Village, which is the revamped old railway station area, has two restaurants open from breakfast to 5pm, as well as numerous shops, including a bakery, garden centre, clothing, gift and lifestyle outlets, and a pet shop. It also has an indoor play area for those rainy days with small children. There are numerous other food establishments within a short walk or drive of the village. Our favourites are the Beeley Inn at Beeley and Piedaniels in Bakewell. The historic Chatsworth House & Gardens and Haddon Hall are both within walking distance of the house. Guest access You are welcome to use the whole of the property during your stay. The only bathroom is upstairs.
