Historic hotel near downtown LA.Rooms include a private kitchenette, bathroom, and queen bed.We are a TV-free hotel. Photos show various units.We have 15 rooms and do not guarantee specific room assignments. Streets may be dirty and there is a large homeless population.Off-street parking is $10/night in an alley behind the building.Bright rooms with thin walls—quiet guests only.Pre-approved pets are welcome with a $50 cleaning fee.Guests without reviews will be charged a $250 refundable deposit. The space Frequently Asked Questions: 1) Do you have AC/heat? Yes, we do! However, some guests have experienced difficulty operating the thermostat. Please note that our on-site team is available to assist with any issues from around 9am to 4pm. If you encounter any problems outside of these hours, you may need to troubleshoot on your own or wait until the next day for assistance. 2) Is parking available? Yes, parking is available at the back of our property, accessible via an alley entrance. Please be aware that the alley can be a bit tricky to locate if you have difficulty reading maps. Parking is $10 per night with unlimited in-and-out privileges. However, parking spaces are not guaranteed, and if another guest parks in a way that prevents you from parking, we will gladly refund your parking fee. 3) Is it safe to walk at night? Westlake MacArthur Park is an urban neighborhood with a lot of character, but like many areas in major cities, it has its challenges. While some guests feel comfortable walking around during the day and evening, we recommend exercising caution if you plan to walk at night. It’s best to stay on well-lit streets, avoid the park after dark, and remain aware of your surroundings. If you’re unfamiliar with the area or concerned about safety, we suggest using a rideshare service or driving instead. 4) Is the Wi-Fi reliable? We offer complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property. While most guests find the connection reliable for general use, please note that the speed may vary depending on the number of devices connected and the time of day. If you encounter any issues, please let us know during business hours. 5) Are pets allowed? Yes, we do allow pets on the ground floor for an additional fee. However, please note that pets cannot be left unattended at any time. This policy ensures the safety and comfort of all our guests. 6) How far are you from downtown LA? Our property is conveniently located about 10-15 minutes from downtown Los Angeles by car, depending on traffic. It’s also accessible via public transit, with several bus lines and the Metro Red/Purple Line nearby. 7) Do you provide housekeeping services during the stay? For stays longer than a week, we offer a complimentary mid-stay cleaning. For shorter stays, housekeeping is not provided during your stay, but we do ensure the unit is thoroughly cleaned before your arrival. Additional cleaning services can be arranged for a fee. 8) Is there a laundry facility on-site? We do not allow guests to use our on-site laundry facilities. However, there are three coin-operated laundry facilities within walking distance. The nearest laundromat is just a 5-minute walk away on Wilshire Boulevard. Please ask for directions if needed. 9) What’s the check-in/check-out process? We use a Schlage lock for check-in, and Airbnb automatically sets the code for your stay. Check-in is self-service and available any time after 4pm, with check-in between 4-7pm preferred but not required. Please note that if you check in past 5pm and encounter any issues, you may not get an immediate response. Check-out is at 11am. Please make sure to leave the keys in the lockbox when you depart. 10) Are there restaurants or grocery stores nearby? Yes, there are several options within walking distance. A popular local spot is Langer's Deli, known for its world-famous pastrami sandwiches, just a 10-minute walk away. You’ll also find a variety of Mexican and Central American eateries along Alvarado Street. For groceries, there’s a large supermarket about a 10-minute walk away on 3rd Street, and several smaller convenience stores closer by. 11) What should I expect regarding the building and neighborhood? Our property is perfect for guests who want the comforts of a hotel but also enjoy the convenience of a private mini kitchenette and a larger shared kitchen for heavier cooking or baking. Each apartment comes with a small hot plate. However, please note that the walls are thin, and the building is older, so it may not be the best fit if you are a light sleeper or if you want to play loud music or party. Our space is ideal for those using it as a "jumping off point" to explore LA for work or play. Additionally, all interactions will be virtual. We are not a 24-hour hotel with a front desk. If you’re looking for a full-service hotel with amenities like 24-hour reception, this may not be the right fit for you. Our staff is generally available during regular business hours and is on call for emergencies after hours. Also, please note that our neighborhood is not a Beverly Hills-type area with palm trees and luxury cars—if that’s what you’re looking for, we may not be the best fit. 12) Is there a place to store my luggage? We do have a small laundry area that can be used for luggage drop-off and pick-up outside of your stay. However, please note that this is an honor system and a shared area, so we cannot guarantee the safety of your items. 13) How far are we from various attractions? We are: -2.4 miles (6-minute drive) from the Convention Center -18.8 miles (about a 30-minute drive) from LAX -11.5 miles (23 minutes) from SoFi Stadium -6 miles (around 15 minutes) from the Walk of Fame -10 miles (20-30 minutes) from Universal Studios -8 miles (about 20 minutes) from the Griffith Observatory Please keep in mind that LA traffic can vary, so it's always a good idea to allow extra time when planning your trip. Guest access Guests have access to a small kitchenette within their room. Guests can use common area kitchen, however the large stove is not available for guest use. Other things to note Westlake MacArthur Park is a vibrant, historic neighborhood in Los Angeles with a diverse community and rich cultural heritage. It is centrally located, offering easy access to downtown LA, Koreatown, and other popular destinations. The area has undergone various changes over the years, and while it remains an authentic part of the city, guests should be aware that it is an urban neighborhood facing challenges common to many metropolitan areas. Guests may notice a visible homeless population, as well as issues related to drug use and street crime. While the neighborhood can feel gritty at times, it also has a strong community spirit and a range of local eateries, markets, and public spaces that reflect the area’s diverse character. MacArthur Park itself is a historic site, offering a glimpse into the local culture, though visitors should be mindful when exploring the park, especially at night. This location is ideal for those who are comfortable in an urban environment and looking to experience a different side of Los Angeles. We recommend that guests exercise usual city precautions, particularly when walking around the area after dark. Despite the challenges, Westlake MacArthur Park is home to many long-time residents and offers a unique, unfiltered Los Angeles experience.
