Rustic, Charming, 2 Story Log Cabin, seen on “Alaska: the Last Frontier"; part of our 620 acre Kilcher Homestead. Views of meadows, bay, glaciers, mountains. Walks on Kilcher beach. Settle into a more rustic, serene way of life. Wifi, electricity, hot water, and with private outdoor pit toilet/“outhouse”, and shared shower and WD and Near 2 other cabins on our “headquarter's site”, which is restricted to only 5 paying guests total. This is a working homestead, you’ll see us around being busy! The space MODERN APPLIANCES, WIFI, ELECTRICITY, HEATED, INDOOR HOT WATER, OUTHOUSE, SOMETIMES SHOWER and W/D. Stay in an original homestead log cabin built in 1944 by Swiss immigrants Yule and Ruth Kilcher, our parents. Two story with two bedrooms. Spacious living room with automatic heating plus a wood stove. The rustic part is the outdoor toilet (outhouse), and guests appreciate the fresh air and great view, LOL With indoor sink for washing up with hot running water Most times a shared shower is available - it was all last summer. However, previous guests didn't mind not having a shower for a few days, and showers are available elsewhere in town. DECK, FIREPIT, 620 ACRES and BEACH: We have hot running water, most times a shared shower. And the best view from the outhouse! As our guest, you have access to our beach, to hikes around our 620 acres, plus your own fire pit, picnic table and large outdoor deck. We are so happy you will be enjoying our unique place! Note: 1. Turn shower knob to the right for hot water. There’s enough hot water for 2 showers and then wait about 30 min for the tank to heat up again. 2. Shared Shower hours are 9 AM to 9 PM Other things to note Our guidebook includes shopping, dining, entertainment, fishing, ATV and other touring info. In addition to our regular daily Kilcher Homestead $35 pp hour tour, we also offer special Premium personalized private tours of 2-1/2 to 3 hours. WILDLIFE: This is what hangs out in our neck of the woods and on the beach: Lots of eagles and other birds, porcupine, moose, lynx, occasional bear, sea otters, occasional whale sightings, fish WORKSHOPS! We also are beginning to offer various workshops, so if that interests you, let us know! Or if you want to lead a workshop, let us know too! Or get married or renew your vows at our place!
