High mountain cabin at Finse

Welcome to the cabin at Finse! A real alpine cabin in the middle of some of Norway's most beautiful and wild nature. From the living room window you can see straight out to the glacier on Hardangerjøkulen. Here the conditions are right for wonderful skiing in winter, hiking in summer and nature experiences of the highest class all year round. Finse is a truly unique place, in the middle of the high mountains. You can only reach Finse by train, not by car. The train ride to Finse with the Bergen Railway is an experience in itself! The space Our cabin is a traditional Norwegian cabin where you can enjoy coming in and relaxing after a day out in the amazing alpine nature of Finse. It has three bedrooms, one with two single beds and two bedrooms with bunk beds where the lower one is a double bed and the upper one is a single bed. The living room has two sofa groups and space for everyone who needs to relax with a knitting, a book or maybe with a little strumming on the guitar? The cabin has a fireplace, but the main heating is electric ovens. There is a dining area for 8 people around the dining table when it is expanded with the extra plate. The kitchen has hobs and stove and sink. The cabin has no running water inside. We usually fetch water in the river right above the cabin in summer and autumn. In winter and spring before the snow has melted, you have to bring water to the cabin. It is about 30 minutes to walk along Rallarvegen from the station to the cabin. This is a fairly flat and easy walk when the weather is good, but if there is a lot of wind it can be tougher, so always follow the weather forecast. In winter it takes about the same time to walk to the cabin on skis. If you want and there is enough snow, we can organize pick-up and drop-off with snowmobile for you. We can also arrange for the snowmobile to bring water if you wish. The cabin does not have a shower, but has its own laundry/bathroom. The toilet is a combustion toilet that is easy to use. Guest access Entire cabin Other things to note It is not possible to drive by car to Finse. There are actually no car roads to this place. Finse is easily accessible by train. Finse is in the high mountains and the weather can be harsh, and change quickly. To stay at Finse you need good equipment and a basic knowledge of safe travels in the mountains. If you do not have any of this, there might be other places that will fit you better. We live in Bergen, and do not have the capacity to visit the cabin after every guest. Thats why we kindly ask our guests to clean the cabin themselves before departure. We provide practical and easy equipment for this. For the same reason we prefer that you bring your own bed linens. If you are not able to bring your own bedlinens it is possible to rent for 200 kr pr set. Please let me know in advance if you want to rent bed linens. Looking forward to see you!
