The Cricketers House is a beautiful former 18th Century Coaching Inn. The house has the benefit of being within The North Wessex Downs AONB with its fantastic open countryside, its footpaths, and ancient forest and yet its within a short walk from shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs in the historic and thriving market town of Marlborough. The town has a public golf course and an award winning tennis club. Both are close by and bookable. Marlborough also boasts its own independent cinema. The space The house has been restored to a high level with 3 double bedrooms and two stylish bathrooms. Both with large modern showers and one with a bath. Previously a renowned restaurant, the kitchen is the heart of the home. You will find everything you need to cook while you are here or alternatively there are plenty of amazing restaurants and cafes just a short walk away. The Kitchen is extremely well equipped with a dishwasher, large fridge, separate freezer, toaster, microwave and kettle along with complementary cooking oil, salt and pepper, tea, coffee and sugar. And a table by the window that seats up to 6. The spacious sitting room has two comfy sofas and a wood burning stove (wood and kindling is available on request). The large screen TV has access to all the popular apps for you to log into, allowing you to pick up where you left off watching your favourite programmes. There is plenty of room for everyone to enjoy playing their favourite board game by the fire, reading a book or watching a good film. The three large bedrooms each have a kingsized bed, good quality linen, plenty of wardrobe space and sweeping views across Marlborough towards the Savernake Forest. The water pressure is excellent so you can enjoy a good shower or a relaxing deep bath. A travel cot and high chair are available on request. If you need to work whilst staying at The Cricketers there is a lovely desk with natural light and plenty of space. French doors lead onto the quiet terrace which has garden seating in the summer at the back of the property. This looks over the charming row of cottages which run alongside The Cricketers House on Kingsbury Terrace. This is a conservation area and all the grade 2 listed houses date back to the late 18th and early 19th century. There is a cobbled public footpath that runs along the front of the cottages towards Herd Street. In summer, their gardens are worth a visit. Guest access Kingsbury Street, Frees Avenue and the surrounding area towards and beside the common has parking with no charges or time restrictions. The entire house is available. There is an enclosed front garden with a gate and path leading to the front door flanked by two olive trees and bay windows on either side. There is large beautiful and peaceful garden terrace at the back with a sofa and chairs for sitting outside to enjoy the sunshine or evening drinks under the umbrella. Other things to note Check in / out - we may allow an earlier check in or later check out, just ask and we will try to accommodate if possible. There is a washing machine and drier available on request for long stays.
