Description

—winter rates till October — If you like kiwi nostalgia of a classic beachfront experience then this is you. Fall asleep stargazing in bed with the sound of waves. Wake up in this 1970's fully modernized Anglo caravan and roll out onto the sand for your morning swim. After a day of relaxing or exploring many amazing beaches in the area fire up the bbq and enjoy cuddling up in front of the fire. If you’re coming up to do Cape Reinga & Te Paki sand dunes (day trip) we recommend staying two nights The space Newly built the 'Beach Bum' is located right on Tokerau beach. Approx 30m and you're on the sand. It's a guest house to the main house where the hosts live most times of the year. It's fully fenced and private. We have 3 very friendly labradors that will welcome you when you arrive but we also have a side path that can bypass the main house as well which can be shown on arrival. The caravan has a queen size bed and a daybed (small single). There is also a projector that has Netflix and more with a pull down screen over the daybed. Although it's almost black out blinds viewing is better at night time. Walk out the caravan to an open deck facing the sand dunes, walk around the side to the undercover outdoor kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen has a weber bbq, 2x hot plates, toaster, kettle and the basic kitchen utensils protected inside sealed plastic containers. Large sink and plenty of bench space to prepare your meals. Slide the fridge door open and you enter into the bathroom where there's a toilet, small vanity, mirror and shower. We've tried to create the outdoor kiwi shower experience by including a little window inside the shower at head height towards the sea. The area boast's many amazing beaches, Matai bay, Rangiputa, and our favorite Puheke beach. If you get the tides right you can find tuatua's and make that yummy dish. Bring your surfcaster and catch a snapper out front like what we do weekly. 3 min drive up the road is the local dairy/gas station where it's well equipped with all you need for a short stay, across the road is a little cafe / takeaways. Next to this is the bottle store and the famous tuatua tavern where you'll meet the friendly locals and hear about all the stories in the area. A further 2 min's and you're at Carrington estate which has a world class golf course and winery with the most stunning views in the area. We also have a caravan hair salon on site called 'The Hair Box' if you wish to book in a spruce up before returning to work. Jilly's details are on google We are kite surfers so if this is what you're into then with 15 knot easterlies this is the perfect spot to launch from. A 10 min drive to Rangiputa on a SW/Westerly you'll feel like your kiting in fiji. The beach has easy access for cars and with the beach being 17km long you can pack your lunch and venture out. Please be mindful of others on the beach and respect the 30km/h speed zone. Not recommended 2 hours either side of high tide. We have hosted accommodation for over 12 years and have travelled the world so more than happy to help with any more details we haven't covered in this. Enjoy our place and look forward to hosting you. Guest access The 'beach bum' is fully fenced so your area is private. You can choose to park in our property and walk through it or park on the grass down the driveway and walk around the property to your own gate. Other things to note Like most holiday spots there are neighbours and baches in the area so please be mindful with noise later in the night which i hope they are also respectful to you as well. December to February are the busy months on the Peninsula
