DISCLAIMER: I do not provide refunds for complaints related to insects. It’s simple—if you don’t like bugs, don’t book a cabin. Like the cabins in The Smokees, The Cherokee National Forest, and other surrounding forests, I do not use toxic pesticides that can harm the surrounding ecosystem. I use only natural non-toxic pesticides. I assure you, I have taken thorough measures to insulate and seal, not only your guest room, but my entire cabin. If you do even a small amount of research, and speak to other cabin owners, you will find that bugs happen in a forest environment, particularly with cabins. Insects prefer the outdoors, but will sometimes come inside, especially after excessive rain. Guest access The Humble Haven comfortably sleeps 2. Please, let me know if you need to sleep more than 2. I have two units that can sleep 4, but special accommodations could be made to comfortably sleep up to 6. See the photos of the additional room with a king canopy bed in my other listing: “The Eagle’s Enchantment.” These are shared spaces: Large screened porch with dining table and seating for 8, the porches, outdoor fireplace and fire-pit. There is a children’s playhouse with a steep staircase—please, be careful and do NOT let children use unsupervised! Staircase leads to a loft with a hammock and play area. Sometimes we set it up to watch outdoor movies. Please, let me know if this sounds fun, and I will try to make it happen. There are 2 acres of wooded trails and swings. Use discretion, and be responsible. Watch your step. Walk and swing at your own risk. I have a rabbitry, and, generally allow guests petting the rabbits. They very rarely bite, but use discretion and be responsible. They generally never bite, but there is the possibility that you could be bitten or scratched. Please leave rabbits, cages as you found them. Always close the main gate. Keep good hygiene and wash hands before and after handling animals. Thank you! 🙏 DISCLAIMER: I do not provide refunds for complaints related to insects. It’s simple—if you don’t like bugs, don’t book a cabin. Insects prefer the outdoors, but will sometimes come inside, especially after excessive rain. IF I am home, I often offer to cook breakfast for my guests! I LOVE to cook for my guests and make it SPECIAL like the Bed & Breakfasts of old! But sometimes I’m not home so this is a bonus and not a guaranteed amenity. There is Wi-Fi onsite, but I generally keep the WiFi on a timer so that it will shut off during sleeping hours. REM sleep is greatly inhibited by WiFi and EMF. Turning it off at night greatly improves sleep. You’re welcome! Generally, it’s on from afternoon until midnight. I will gladly accommodate requests for WiFi to be turned on when needed. There is PLENTY of hot water 💦 for showers so be careful when you turn it on—don’t burn yourself! I like hot showers. I hope you do, too. Many people (including myself) are highly sensitive to artificial fragrances and toxic cleaning products that contain “forever chemicals.” I use only natural, non-toxic cleaning products with only essential oil fragrances. I run Air-Doctor ionizers 24/7. Rest assured—you will have clean air to breathe! Please return the favor and DO NOT use perfume or artificial fragrances of any kind during your stay. Future guests thank you! There is a screened “tree house” loft with a hammock for guests to enjoy glamping or outdoor movies should they want to. The ladder is steep. Climb at your own risk, and never leave children unattended. For safety reasons, please do not go out on the balcony. During warmer months, there is also a hammock accessible in the side yard between two trees. Outdoor fireplace and alternative fire pit available for guest use in most seasons (except when there are burn bans), but please do not leave fires unattended—pine needles and leaves catch fire easily. There are bikes, sports equipment, and children’s outdoor toys available (lower level of the “treehouse.” The neighborhood is wonderful and a walk or a bike ride affords beautiful views of the river. There are trails through my 2-acre forest with many different kinds of swings, including a large net swing. Be especially careful on the swings or trampoline. I have never seen snakes, but there is poison ivy off the paths. Never leave children unattended. There is a rabbitry in the adjoining courtyard that houses 7-14 rabbits, depending on whether we have any baby bunnies. The gate functions with a child-lock. Call if you can’t figure it out. Please close all gates behind you because some rabbits mights be hopping around in the play area. Feel free to open cages and pet or hold rabbits as long as you close the cages back. You may feed them organic carrots, organic greens, fresh greens from my yard, or other organic produce. If a rabbit gets loose in the play area, please let me know. They are generally safe playing in the bunny courtyard, but they cannot be left out overnight because of fox, raccoons, owls, and other predators.
