Enjoy a stylish experience in a centrally located home with a berry garden, and bike trail right by the house. Located on the outskirts of historic Tranebjerg which offers restaurant visits, shopping, shopping in shops and small stalls, as well as the island's cultural center Sambiosen with large playground and skate court. Tranebjerg is located in the heart of Samsø, and the bike path leads directly to the seaside town in Ballen and the beautiful hills of Nordby. Enjoy the berry and orchard with associated garden sets, fire pit grill for the lovely warm summer evenings. The space The guesthouse offers a small bright bathroom out to the garden with an attached washer and dryer, a large entrance with the possibility of storage, and a large room with both a kitchen, living room with sofa bed and large TV, as well as a beautiful old bed and chamber room which is a family heirloom from my great-grandmother's birthplace. The kitchen has a large dining table, and great opportunities to cook and unfold gastronomically. The kitchen contains a new fridge and freezer, newly purchased oven, and a microwave. The garden offers several different fruit trees and berry bushes, feel free to take a "bite of Samsø" and taste the delights of the garden. Enjoy the sunset from the garden set, on the late summer evenings. The annex's guests have access to a small Weber gas grill, and if you want to enjoy an evening out, Samsø Madsnedkeri is just around the corner. Tranebjerg also offers several of the island's other restaurants. The guesthouse is connected to home/main house, where we also rent out four rooms/entire house, which the guest garden at the annex is shared with the house other guests. It is possible to rent bed linen/sheets/towels for 100 kroner per person. The guesthouse is located on the outskirts of Tranebjerg with good cycling opportunities right at the door, there is the possibility of renting bikes in several places on Samsø, including from Sælvig harbor. Bike rental is the first step towards a great cycling holiday on Samsø. With its varied nature, many villages and short distances, Samsø is perfect for short and long trips by bike for the whole family. Even small sizes can be included if Samsø is to be seen from the bike saddle. Good, wide bike paths all the way from Tranebjerg to Mårup and the quiet motor traffic make Samsø a safe place to go by bike. If the little legs get tired, thankfully, there are always cards for everything. Samsø's 22 villages wind through the countryside, and in many of them you can get a refreshment in the summer heat. The vast majority of places the country is fairly flat, and on the island's few larger climbs, it is obvious to make hold and look out over the landscape. From the top of Kongehøjen between Onsbjerg and Tranebjerg, you can, for example, try to count how many churches you can spot. The whole of Samsø is suitable for biking, and there are only a few places you can't go. Instead, put your bike down and enjoy a stroll. Guest access The guest annex with associated berry and orchard, which the other guests in the house also have access to. In the main house, four double rooms/whole house are rented. It is possible to rent towels and bed linen/sheets for 100 kroner per person. Other things to note Dear guests, Warm welcome to our magnificent home - Engbjerghus. Thank you for choosing to be guests in our home or guesthouse. We have renovated the villa over the past few months, and we are incredibly happy to now be able to welcome you. Our vision has been to recreate and adorn our property in a style with respect for the history and age of the house. Engberghus is from the year 1887, and was built as the island's medical center, which still characterizes the space distribution. The doctors and the service people resided in the main house, and with clinic through the main entrance. The retro and vintage-inspired decor is characterized by several different decades of styles and heirloom. Many of the furniture has a very special story for us, as it is different flea finds from our overseas trips. Several of the older beds, wardrobes and crocheted pillows are inherited from the Mellgaard family and Overgaard, and have belonged to Janni's great-grandparents. The coffers, mirrors, and more of the lamps are heirlooms from Janni's grandparents from both since the family. We have lived 12 years in Horsens, where many of our furniture comes from WOUD, which is a design company that specializes in upcomming designs with an eye for aesthetics, sustainability and high quality. In the month of April, we moved to Samsø with our two girls, ages three and five, in the dream of stepping out of the hamster hole for a while, and creating another time and space for our family life. We fell in love with the beautiful nature, and the warmth we were greeted by on the island. By chance, we got to show Engbjerghus, and the dream went on. In just two months, we said goodbye to our regular everyday life in Horsens. We wanted to create a home with room for visits from friends, family and guests. We are at the same time surrounded by nature, and just a few hundred meters from the city's heart the Sambiosis and the city life that Tranebjerg offers. During your visit, we hope you will enjoy the berry garden if the season is here. The fields and the church that the house is surrounded by, as well as the beautiful Tinghus creates a peculiar view from every window in the house. Several dreams came true when it all started with a dream of traveling in Europe with our girls for half a year. The dream evolved and started instead on Samsø for 1.5 months, after which we have now embarked on our European journey. At the time of writing, we're heading for warmer skies.
