Skipper's house on Nordre Sandøy (Østre Hvaler)
Description
Welcome to Fjeldberg. Relax with the whole family and friends in this charming and spacious skipper's house from the late 1800s. The Skipper's house is located on car-free Nordre Sandøy, and is rented out with a berth in a common jetty. There is also a free ferry to Hvaler's eastern islands. There are 11 regular beds, in addition to a cot and a crib. The space The cabin is well equipped with grills (gas and ceramic charcoal grill/smoker) and private dining area outside with space for 12 under awning in case of rain or late meals. The property has three terraces and a wide staircase meant as a seating area outside the summer living room. The kitchen is well equipped, with enough wine glasses for a small wedding. There are simple basic goods included - take some and leave some. You are welcome to use the kitchen garden, but the asparagus does not bear fruit yet. The basement has a freezer and extra fridge for beverages. You will also find a slicing machine for the smoked meat and simple garden toys. The island has great hiking opportunities, with a short distance to the beach, Svaberg, and bathing jetty. A little further hiking opportunities are Makø Sommercafé, Tresvika beach, or Signalen - Hvaler's highest "mountain". Here you live and travel close to nature - cloudberries, blueberries, chanterelles, sheep and mackerel fishing. There is a short distance to the Swedish mainland, and visitors by boat should consider a trip to the summer idyllic Strömstad. Other islands with facilities nearby are Søndre Sandøy (Café/Pub/simple food) and Herføl (Marina, Restaurant, and Hvaler's best cinnamon buns). Skjærhallen on Kirkøy has a normal mainland connection by road, and can offer squares, restaurants and cafes, grocery stores and a liquor store. There are also parking spaces here. We who travel here a lot have no problem recommending the island outside the high season. The calm settles in throughout the autumn, with impressive weather, beautiful colors, and large amounts of fruit. In winter there is total silence while the fireplace crackles. Spring arrives early in Hvaler, and the bluebells appear long before they do in the big city. The island can hereby be recommended for all seasons! Guest access The entire property is rented. Other things to note Rented with berth for small boat <25 feet in common jetty. Free ferry available, see Østfold Public Transport for timetables. The island is car-free.
