The herb garden rises in deep blue splendor, surrounded by lush greenery that clings to three of its walls like a protective cloak. Once a place of receiving nature's healing herbs, the garden with its covered courtyard is a quiet retreat, fenced and spacious, its three thousand square meters encompassing a sauna, bread oven, herb garden, chicken and duck coop, and a covered campfire area where the flames tell stories of lives past. The space You lie in the hammock, doing something very productive: nothing. Meanwhile, the campfire waits for someone to give it a task. Later, you go to the sauna because warmth is a form of agreement. Afterward, you sit by the bread oven, which exudes a pleasant blend of patience and flour, and watch time pass without making a fuss. The Ore Mountains surround you, quietly shaping your impression. In winter, people ski along the edge of the forest. In summer, cherries, plums, and peaches hang in the garden. You can snack on the mountain meadows without anyone sending you a bill: blackberries, raspberries, a little bit of mess in your mouth. And then there's that homemade herbal tea… tending to your soul, which nods gratefully in return. Guest access You enter through the main entrance, just as if you had done so many times before. On the third floor awaits your Kräuterhaus Loft, equipped with a kitchenette, a shower, and two French balconies—distinguished, above all, by the fact that they are not German ones. If the mood strikes you, you can complement the space with the Lavender Room on the second floor. It stands ready and holds no olfactory surprises. Bikers are welcome. On the first floor, you will find the Herb Salon and a restroom that performs its duty without any fuss. Other things to note The Kräuterhof is currently in a phase that could quite rightly be described as a "pre-rental" stage. It is growing and evolving—albeit without any dramatic fanfare. For you, this has the pleasant side effect that whenever you return, you discover something new—something that wasn't there before, or that acts as if it had been there all along. The ongoing development takes place discreetly in your absence, as if the house possessed a life of its own—one that is considerate of your needs. Your floor—home to the Kräuter-Loft—, however, already stands fully completed and freshly renovated: spruced up and ready to make a great impression. Loss of Keys (of Any Kind) It occasionally happens that a key decides to strike out on its own and elude the grasp of its former owner. In such an instance—regardless of whether it is a house key, apartment key, mailbox key, or any other previously inconspicuous key—a fee of €50 per key will be charged. This sum serves as compensation for the behind-the-scenes tasks that must be undertaken: procuring a replacement, proper administrative documentation, and restoring the locking mechanism to a state where doors once again function exactly as we expect them to. Furthermore, should the loss of a key entail security-related consequences—such as the necessity of replacing the entire locking system—additional costs will apply. In Summer Directly from Kräuterhof, you can head uphill to the "Steinhübel" lookout point, and from there, venture deeper into the forests for hiking or cycling. Insider Tip: The Braunmühle in Dörntal serves the world's best *Buttermilchgöten* (buttermilk pancakes). Just a ten-minute drive away lies the "Große Teich" (Great Pond) in Großhartmannsdorf—a wonderful swimming spot originally created by miners in the 17th century. Just 16 kilometers away lies Pobershau, home to the "Schwarzwassertal" hiking and climbing area, as well as the Katzenstein rock formation, which makes for an excellent excursion destination. There, you will also find the Molchner Stolln show mine, the Rätzteich forest pool, and the thermal baths in Wiesenbad and Warmbad—all of which, in their own unique way, revolve around the element of water. Finally, the Aqua Marien awaits you in Marienberg—Saxony’s largest aquatic leisure complex. In Winter When weather conditions permit, groomed cross-country ski trails—accessible right outside your front door—wind along the edge of the forest and through its depths; alternatively, starting from Pobershau, the trails extend up to 40 kilometers, leading through forests, mountains, and valleys all the way to the Czech Republic. Both there and in Marienberg itself, you will find a ski slope featuring two lifts and a charming, rustic ski lodge. The large ski resort in Oberwiesenthal can be reached within an hour, while Christmas markets in Freiberg or Marienberg are just a 20- to 30-minute drive away.
