Description

Come relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay. Couples, keen anglers, we welcome you all. A place to unplug, explore & create memories. You can watch the snowflakes fall; the sun rise over the lake & take in the moody lake views whilst nestled in by our charming rock fireplace. Off the grid living, wildlife, bush walking, lake access, fishing boat pontoons a short drive away & endless nature for all ages to enjoy. We offer an outdoor fire pot, enclosed patio & ample parking. The space This cabin bursts with character. The original shell of the building was in fact one of few of the original Hydro houses that were built in the early days of the Great Lake for Hydro employee's accommodation. As time has gone on the cabin has undergone renovations to suit full time residency and now for accommodation. The beautiful rock featured fireplace, entrance and its quirkiness make up for the lack of perfection. Once your nestled in on the couch by the fire with a hot chocolate or glass of fine red, you'll forget about the busy world you've left behind during your stay. A short walk back down the driveway and crossing the road will lead you to the lake access. This is where you can truly witness the lakes beauty or try your luck at some offshore fishing. We offer a kitchen with basic cooking utensils, stove top kettle to boil water, crockery, cutlery and glassware. NOTE: The oven and cook top are all operated by gas. You will find operating instructions located nearby the oven. There are basic pantry items: Butter portions, tomato/BBQ sauce, tea, coffee, sugar, milo, salt and pepper. Our bathroom features a walk-in shower, toilet, basin, washing machine, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. We have two bedrooms; the master features a queen bed. Spare bedroom includes a double bed. To be able to accommodate more guests we have in the lounge room a fold out couch that is equivalent to a large single bed. Linen for this is always stored in the "Guest" cupboard that is located in the hallway. We do not make up this bed as it will need to be used by guests throughout the day as a couch. We can comfortably host 4 people plus 1 infant. We can allow up to 6 people by using the futon at an extra cost of $30 per person. There is also available an infant porta cot. We ask that you let us know in advance if you require this and you MUST provide your own bedding, we only provide the porta cot alone! Upon your arrival you will find our cosy cabin is the final property located on your left on the shared road. Your most welcome to park right at the entrance to unload your belongings from your car. Once this is done, we ask that you move your car and head forwards where you'll see ample parking space at the rear of the building. As far as accessibility and space, a large 4WD towing a fishing boat is able to make a full turn by using our round about and is able to park easily. Guest access Guests have mostly full access to the entire house. We ask that you avoid using the area where the "Cleaner" cupboards are kept and please don't use any of the cupboard's contents unless you have directly contacted us. As you enter this room you are welcome to treat this as your own "mud" room. You will find coat hooks and a mat for shoes. The cabin is nestled in amongst pristine wilderness, the property also backs onto untouched world heritage land which you have access to explore and take in all its beauty. The land is fantastic for nature/wildlife enthusiasts and a magical natural playground for children. We ask that you leave the land the way you found it. NOTE: This land can at times also be explored by neighbouring shack owners so sometimes you may not always be on your own. We believe if we can be informative hosts then we should hopefully have very satisfied guests. We are off grid living! This means we rely on solar power for electricity, and we ask for guests to be so mindful when using electronic devices. We do have available for guests a washing machine that can be used but sparingly. We do not allow "Guests" to use the clothes dryer, this can only be operated via generator back up. We have provided hangers for you to be able to dry clothes by the fire or you will find an outdoor washing line at the rear of the property. We also don't provide appliances like hair dryers as they too are not user friendly with our system. And of course, our water supply is relied fully on rainfall so particularly in certain seasons we ask for you to be very mindful of your water consumption. As much as we would love to be able to accommodate all guests needs due to the structure of our old cabin, we unfortunately don't have wheelchair access and the only access to the main door is via multiple stone steps. We are truly sorry that we cannot be more user friendly. Due to the abundance of wildlife, we also cannot accommodate pets. Finally, we are all for a good time. Infront of the cabin on the lawn we have a small fire pot that "Guests" are able to use, if you wish for seating its BYO. Smoking is allowed OUTDOORS only. We ask that noise and activity is kept to a respectful level due to neighbouring shack owners' rights to their own peace and tranquillity. Registration Details DA 2024/22
