Description

** BOOK NOW FOR 2026 SEASON! This is our serene cabin situated on the banks of the Mississippi River at Portage Paddle Camp! Stay at our unique riverfront property, where we also offer rare, vintage accomodations for primitive-style camping! The river and bluff views will hypnotize you into relaxation. Enjoy sounds of occasional crashing waves, the beauty of nature, & peace! The hanging bed will rock you right to sleep. Grab a paddle and go kayaking or paddleboarding! Relax, renew, restore! The space IT'S BACK AND FULLY RENOVATED! If you're looking to get away from the hustle and bussle of the daily rat race and spend some relaxing time in nature, then this is the place for you! At this little oasis, you will enjoy tranquility, nature, and much more! Inside (newly renovated!): a lavish, hanging king size memory foam mattress, ambient lighting, brand new bathroom with a stand up shower and a one of a kind view, mini refrigerator, apartment size stove/oven, microwave, coffee maker, kitchen basics, plenty of reading material, games. Outside (your upper private level): attached private balcony with chairs/table and an incredible view. Ground Level: a shared pavilion/lounge/bar area, shared grill, shared bathroom, shared outdoor hot water shower, shared use of kayaks, paddleboards, and paddle boat. Your designated firepit is located here also. At Portage Paddle Camp, guests book for location, recreational water amenities, and the rarity of such a mix of accomodations! ‼️ LATE SEPT- OCTOBER: as it begins to cool down and the crops have been harvested, there will be increased insect activity outdoors and indoors, mainly "stink bugs, aka., corn bugs", as we like to call them, and ladybug beetles. If this will be bothersome for you, please reconsider your booking dates ‼️ *** SPRING - FALL UNTIL WE WINTERIZE (USUALLY, AROUND MID NOVEMBER) *** Guest access Cabin guests have exclusive use of the 2nd level of the cabin and the attached deck. The ground level of the cabin is the commons area for guests camping in the vans, campers, or tents. Cabin guests are also welcome to the use of this area. The attached lower level garage, is where we keep equipment and supplies necessary for the campground. We may periodically access this space during your stay. Cabin guests may explore the waterfront areas, but only where there are no other guests who are booked in the waterfront accommodations. Enjoy complimentary use of kayaks, paddle boards, or a paddle boat! Shared use between all guests staying on property. You may bring your own fishing gear if you'd like. * Have friends or family who'd like to join? Check out our other accomodations on the property, below! Green VW Camper Van: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/13729792 Red VW Camper Van:  https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/13614754 Red Shasta Camper: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/20137837 Shasta Camper (Multi color): https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/20402606 BYOT (bring your own tent) #1:  https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/19971765 BYOT (bring your own tent l) #2: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/19985551 Other things to note * The cabin is located on a property that may be shared with guests staying at other accomodations until early November. The ground level of the cabin IS shared with other potential guests, as this is the commons area for the property. * We are an ADULTS ONLY property * Weekends and holidays can sometimes be the most common days booked depending on how hot it is outside. During the really hot and cold temperatures, there likely won't be any primitive camping guests booking, therefore, there should be more seclusion during those times. Ultimately, if you're looking for a more private and secluded time, book Sunday-Thursday. * Water source is well and has not been tested, so water is NOT POTABLE. * There will be bugs throughout the season and there will be some mosquitos (factors out of our control). Did we mention that we're surrounded by the river, woods, and crop fields? Bring bug spray, sunscreen, bottled water, and whatever necessities you need for a comfortable stay. UBER/LYFT: WILL drop you off in Portage Des Sioux, but you WILL NOT pick you up from Portage Des Sioux. Taxi Cab service WILL pick you up from Portage. Plan ahead if you will not have a vehicle.
