Description
Welcome to Shaker Meadows, a historic 18th century Berkshires farm. This newly renovated chalet-style suite in the farm’s 1940s creamery has two bdr, full kitchen, & deck looking out onto the Berkshire mountains. Explore winding paths around 50 acres of farmland & hills or drive 10 mins to Hancock Shaker Village, 15 mins to Tanglewood/Jiminy Peak—a wonderful base for exploring the art, music, and history of the Berkshires. Great for couples, families, & solo adventurers. Kid- and pet-friendly. The space Shaker Meadows farmhouse and creamery are nestled in 50 acres of land that includes forested mountains, farmland, and a willow-lined pond that feeds into the Shaker Meadows wetlands. Walking and hiking trails run around the edges of the fields and through the hills. The Birch Suite is situated in the farm’s creamery building that dates to the 1800s. It has a bedroom (queen bed), en suite bathroom, full kitchen, upstairs loft bedroom (queen, and rollaway single bed), and shared deck overlooking the fields & mountains. Note that the suite is accessed by walking up a flight of stairs. The suite is heated by baseboards and cooled by in-window air conditioners in the summer. In the mid-20th century, the southern building served as a creamery, processing and bottling milk for local dairies. It now houses four guest units-- in addition to the Birch suite, the building houses the main Creamery unit, a second loft apartment, and an attached carriage house. So while all interior spaces are private, you may see other guests on the 50 acre grounds, by the parking, etc. This is a working, organic farm, so you may see bugs (especially lady bugs) or animals such as birds, newts, frogs, or many others on the property. As we do not spray, you may even be lucky enough to be visited by some lady bugs in the suite during your stay, don't worry, they are harmless and in local culture are lucky because they are beneficial and eat crop-destroying aphids.
