Description

Traditional 18th-century farmhouse set in a large tree-filled garden with a big swimming pool and separate pool house and games room. The 5 bedroom property is secluded and surrounded by oak trees but is a short drive from shops, markets, bars and restaurants in nearby villages Venasque or St Didier. Characterful with a stunning summer kitchen and lots of different seating and dining areas it's perfect for large groups and family celebrations with lots of space to spread out inside and out. The space Although it’s semi-detached, high trees and hedges give the place a really secluded feel and beyond the house oak trees stretch unbroken for half a mile. There are numerous seating areas around the garden as well as lots of sun loungers by the pool so there's something for everyone, sun-lovers and shade-seekers alike. Every room is beautifully decorated in traditional Provencal style and the kitchen has everything you could want to cater for a family holiday of up to 10 people. There are three separate dining areas (all seating up to 10 people) - the absolutely stunning summer kitchen, an outdoor dining area under the shade of a pergola and a vaulted indoor dining room for stays early or late in the year. The kitchen offers an oven, an induction hob, a big microwave/oven plus a large outdoor barbecue. There are high quality mattresses, bedding and towels in the bedrooms and a total of four bathrooms between the main house and the studio by the pool. A travel cot and highchair are available on request. Three of the bedrooms have air conditioning, the other two have fans and mosquito netting so that you can sleep with the windows open. Three bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms and the remaining double and twin rooms on the first floor share a bathroom. The large separate games room offers table tennis, boules and badminton and there are books, jigsaws, board games and DVDs in the library upstairs. We're hoping this will be a break from work for you, but if you need a quiet space to make a call or just sit and think the office is secluded and has a large desk with lovely views over the garden and pool. Guest access The property offers a main house, pool house and games room plus a very large garden and swimming pool. Other things to note The lovely village of Saint Didier is 2km away down a lane flanked with vineyards and orchards. It has all you need - boulangeries, butchers, small supermarkets, restaurants and bars. Not at all touristy, electric bike hire and a lovely market every Monday morning. On a hilltop 3km away you'll find the stunning Venasque - one of the 'plus beau villages de France' - offering two lovely restaurants and a bar with panoramic views plus a market on Thursday evenings. The Tourist Information office has details of lots of lovely walks starting from there. The Guardian listed the Sunday morning flea market in Carpentras (10 minutes' drive away) as one of the top 10 in the whole of France. Closer to home on a Saturday morning there is a 'vide grenier' under the trees at the tiny Edgar Soumille aerodrome 4 minutes from the house. Mont Ventoux is just 20km away- one of the most 'famous and feared' climbs of the Tour de France. You can drive there via the scenic Gorge de la Nesque, walk one of the trails or hire electric bikes in Bedoin for a more relaxing way to explore the area. Walkers and cyclists will love the Vaucluse area. Half an hour away, the river at Fontaines-de-Vaucluse is turquoise and crystal clear. From there you can hire kayaks to travel down-river to Isle sur la Sorgue (famous for it's antique shops and stalls). The garden is huge so plenty of room for badminton, boules, and table tennis and there are books, games, jigsaws and DVDs to choose from in the library upstairs - something for everyone.
