The Mushroom Cottage

The Cottage, formerly referred to as “Young at Heart,” is one of the most popular “mushroom houses” of Charlevoix. Originally built as a 1900s wood-framed cottage, it was transformed by Earl Young in the 1940s into one of the most beloved storybook residences in Charlevoix. The space The Cottage has been recently remodeled to retain Earl Young’s whimsical design details combined with modern-day conveniences, including a remodeled kitchen, updated bathrooms, air conditioning, and designer furnishings and finishes throughout. Once you step inside the quaint cottage, you’ll notice the wide-plank aged pine floors and the airy, light-filled living room with an oversized picture window where you can relax and take in the surroundings. The floor plan is functional for couples, families, or small gatherings with friends. The main level includes a living room with a gas fireplace, beverage center with wine refrigerator, and an eat-in-kitchen with high-end stainless-steel appliances. Two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with a full-size bed, laundry area, and bathroom with walk-in shower complete the main level. Upstairs boasts a spacious primary bedroom, full bathroom, and a cozy bedroom with a twin bed.
