Description

Fantastic self catering, luxury double railway carriage, perfect for a romantic break away and a great base for exploring the Royal Forest of Dean and the stunning Wye Valley with walking, cycling, rock climbing, canoeing, golf and fishing nearby. The carriages are on our smallholding. We have a flock of commercial sheep, and our lambing season primarily occurs in March. In addition to sheep, we have ducks and chickens, as well as a cat and two beautiful border collies. The space Hoarthorns Hideaway is a delightful double railway carriage located in Edge End, near Coleford. It’s the perfect retreat for a romantic getaway, offering a unique experience amidst the stunning natural beauty of the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley. Here are some highlights of this charming hideaway: • Setting: The carriages are situated on our small working sheep farm, surrounded by serene countryside. No noisy roosters here—just sheep, ducks, and chickens! The Carriages provide a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. • Accommodation: The carriages were thoughtfully renovated to a high standard in 2022. Inside, they feature an open-plan living space with Smart TV and Wi-Fi, a cozy comfortable dining area, kitchen with cooker, hob, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. A comfortable cosy double bedroom with Smart TV. An ensuite shower room ensures convenience with shower, toilet, heated towel rail and wash hand basin. • Outdoor Space: Step outside and you will find a charming picnic bench where you can enjoy meals al fresco. If you are in the mood for a barbecue, there's an electric grill at your disposal.. The enclosed paddock provides privacy and serenity. From a view through the hedge, you can even catch glimpses of cows and their adorable calves in the neighboring field. • Wildlife: Hoarthorns Hideaway is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Keep an eye out for wild boar, deer, various bird species (including Canadian geese), and playful squirrels. The place truly immerses you in the natural world. • Exploration: The Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley offer fabulous walks, making these carriages an excellent base for outdoor activities and exploring the Forest of Dean and its surroundings.. Nearby attractions include Clearwell Caves, venture underground to explore these fascinating limestone caves. Symonds Yat, absolutely stunning scenery. Puzzlewood, lose yourself in this enchanting woodland with moss covered rocks and twisting paths. Perry Grove Steam Railway, take a nostalgic steam train ride through the Forest. Beechenhurst Sculpture trail, follow the trail and encounter intriguing sculptures set against the Forest backdrop. • Cycling and Walking: If you are a cyclist or a walker you are in luck! The Forest of Dean offers scenic trails just waiting to be explored. Cyclists and walkers will definitely appreciate the Forest of Dean’s scenic trails. The carriages have a dry undercover area for bike storage (bring your own lock), or hire your bikes locally (Pedal a Bike Away). • Nearby Towns: Coleford, a short drive away, boasts a cinema and various shops. Monmouth, with its castle and historic Monnow Bridge, is also within easy reach. Ross on Wye has boutique shops and stunning scenery. Raglan and Chepstow have historic Castles and don't forget Tintern Abbey !! Whether you’re seeking tranquility, adventure, or both, Hoarthorns Hideaway promises an unforgettable escape in the heart of nature. Guest access The enclosed area around the Carriages and a designated parking space. Up the path from the private parking space, into the enclosed area then 3 steps up to the entrance. Other things to note Minimum of 2 night stay Maximum of 2 people (One double bed) No pets No smoking Check in 4pm - 9pm ETA will be required as I like to meet and greet Check out by 10am ENJOY YOUR STAY!!!!!
