The first house entering the peaceful and friendly Kato Panagia village. A bright and spacious holiday home used to relax and take in the village lifestyle, all from a front row balcony seat overlooking the quiet road. It is fully furnished with 5 beds and 2xWC's with shops just across the road and cafenion below! Walk to the beach 100m away or be in Kyllini port via the old railway track in 7 mins. The veranda provides views of the olive covered hillsides and the ferry boats in the port. The space Upstairs family house, over two floors with veranda, recently renovated and refreshed. This is a well loved holiday home, shared by a family over many years when visiting the village in the Summer for rest and recreation in Kato Panayia & Kyllini. There is an Office table and Chair available on the top floor for an ideal Remote Work Space with a great view. Cyclists and bikers can leave their vehicles in the secure driveway of the Co-host 20 meters away. There is so much to do in the surrounding region with many beautiful beaches in close proximity and historical places to visit. You can start with a Greek Coffee or Meze in the traditional Cafenion downstairs or go for an Espresso to the modern bakery around the corner, passing the Supermarket and pharmacy - for all your holiday needs within 50 meters. The village of Kato Panagia is located in the region of ILIA on the most westerly point of the Peloponnese and the Port of Kyllini and olive tree covered mountain sides can be clearly seen from the veranda of the house. If you are travelling by Car - you can park in the street outside the house but leave a few meters for the Cafenion patrons to extend their legs. From Athens, take the National Road A8 towards Patras (2 hours) and then 1 hour more to the Port of Kyllini. The KTEL buses operate routes from Athens to ILIA and nearest stop is the bus that goes to Zakynthos - where you can just disembark in the Port of Kyllini and walk along the old railway tracks to the house! Nowadays you can check the bus schedules and book tickets online. Historical Kato Panagia After the Asia Minor Catastrophe, refugees uprooted from the village of Kato Panagia on the Coast of Minor Asia, carrying only the church bell and a few of their belonging and where settled in the new village on the coast, next to Kyllini having been granted land to them by the nearby historic Byzantine Monastery of Vlacherna - Panagia Vlacherna - which is a short walk from our apartment. Similarly the archaeological site of Glarentza, the old port of CYLLENE, as mentioned by Homer, can be visited in a longer walk. There is an outstanding Frankish castle of Chlemoutsi in the village of Kastro, four kilometers away from Kato Panagia. It is worth visiting the museum in the old castle and recommend checking out the view of the entire region and islands from the high ramparts. An hour away is Ancient Olympia, while it is also worth visiting Ancient Elis, where the Olympic Games were initially held. The Port of Katakolon, where cruise ships from around the world arrive is also worth a visit. Guest access All the apartment available as well as access to veranda on top floor for scenic views. Top floor has spare shower & toilet facility. Other things to note Cyclists and Bikers can leave their vehicles in the secure driveway / garden of the Co-host 20 meters away, if you do not want to leave on public road.
