The space NOTE: Please do not use a humidifier in this cabin. It is a tight cabin that we tend to fight humidity build up in and too high of humidity will turn the propane heater off. NOTE: Not available November through May unless warmer temperatures dictate otherwise. Other things to note A 4WD vehicle is recommended December through April (and will even provide further access to forest service roads and adventures at all times). The road coming to the cabin is well plowed but can still be difficult at times to navigate in a 2WD vehicle. Also, winter storms can be somewhat unpredictable at times. As hard as we all try to keep the road open and accessible 24/7 for our guests and full-time residents, there are VERY RARE instances where it is too low of visibility and fast drifting snow to do so safely (typically during darkness). During these times, we suggest getting cozy in the cabin playing games or watching a movie until the weather can settle down to allow us all to move about safely. Phone Service: Free Wi-Fi is provided, but cell service is hit or miss depending upon your carrier. If you have the ability to activate Wi-Fi calling on your phone, we highly suggest doing so if needing to make calls/texts. Otherwise, you may need to drive about a mile to get reliable cell coverage. November in the Snowy Range: Once general hunting season in the area ends at the end of October, the scenic byway over the Snowy Range is likely to close at the next significant snowstorm and remain closed until Memorial Day weekend. This has been known to happen as early as the 3rd week of October to as late as the 1st week of December. If you are planning to visit the Snowy Range in November, understand that options for hiking and sightseeing can diminish if the byway does close. Snowsports don't tend to be a viable option until the 1st week of December, so the month of November can be very limiting in outdoor activities. April/May in the Snowy Range: The ski area typically closes by the 1st or 2nd weekend in April leaving Snowmobiling and Snowshoeing/Cross Country Skiing as the main Snowsports left to enjoy. With temperatures warming and snow melting away, we typically refer to April and the first part of May as our "Mud Season". The scenic byway typically opens by Memorial Day weekend which greatly increases the opportunities to hike, sightsee, and tour the Snowy Range. However, hiking trails don't tend to completely melt off until the last weekend in June, so bring some good mud/hiking boots and prepare to have a snowball fight in June! Popular Destinations: --Summer recreation in the Snowy Range is only a few minutes away to the many hiking/mountain biking trails, ATV trails, streams, rivers, lakes, and some of Wyoming's best scenery! --Winter recreation starts only a couple miles away to the snowmobile trailheads, ski area, and/or snowshoeing/cross country skiing opportunities! --1 mile to the Centennial Visitor Center for the Medicine Bow National Forest where the border of the forest land starts. --2 miles to the town of Centennial for restaurants, bars, basic groceries, and gas. --30 miles to Laramie, home of the University of Wyoming, with all the larger city resources available.
