Description
Our stylish newly built annexe in north Cornwall is a spacious and cosy retreat for two with parking. Enjoy a peaceful and private stay with high ceilings, natural light and a leafy outlook. Wadebridge town is just 10 minutes by foot and the Cornish coast (Rock, Polzeath, Padstow, Port Isaac) only 15 mins by car. With an outside tap to rinse off, our annexe is ideal for cyclists, surfer’s, walkers or windsurfers. Relax on the private patio after a hard day sightseeing. Pets & infants welcome. The space The Annexe at Catherine House is a separate new build at the top of our property with its own parking for 1 car. Meticulously designed with a mono pitch roof, it is clad in black weatherboarding and furnished with contemporary comforts and mid-century details, making it a very special place for couples to stay. It has underfloor heating throughout, high ceilings, natural light and a charming southwest facing courtyard with outdoor seating to enjoy the evening sunsets, a BBQ or a sundowner. We accept infants under 2y but please bring your own travel cot/ high chair or hire them locally from Rock a Bye Hire. We accept 2 dogs, but please don’t leave dogs in the annexe alone unattended. Please bring a dog bed or crate. We are within walking distance to several pubs, bars and restaurants, as well as the towns shops, supermarkets, beautiful riverside parks with tennis and bowls courts, the cinema and the Royal Cornwall Showground. You can also walk or hire a bike to explore the scenic Camel Trail and visit Padstow or Camel Valley Vineyard. Jump in the car to explore the stunning beaches on either side of side of the Camel estuary. With 7-bays to explore for each day of the week, you are spoilt for choice. Each bay faces a different aspect so there is always somewhere to surf, windsurf, kitesurf, paddle board or sea swim. On the other side of the estuary lies Rock Beach with a foot ferry across the estuary to Padstow making for an enjoyable day trip. If you are looking for the perfect Cornish base, then the Annexe is a magical spot from which to explore everything that North Cornwall has to offer - a magnificent and rugged stretch of the north Cornish coastline incorporating the Camel Estuary and offering easy access across to Padstow via the Black Tor foot ferry. Understandably the area is very popular with families, water sports enthusiasts, golfers, and walkers alike. With the world class St Enodoc links golf course and the Point at Polzeath on your doorstep, you will be spoilt for golfing choice. Rock is well known for its abundance of outdoor leisure facilities, offering sailing, canoeing, swimming, water skiing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, boat charters and fishing. Excellent golf is available at a number of golf clubs and driving ranges, alongside wonderful scenic walking country - so do pack your walking shoes! Daymer Bay with its shallow golden sandy beach is dog friendly all year round, or cruise around to Polzeath for more exhilarating waves and try your hand at surfing, body boarding or stand-up paddle boarding. The beaches at Daymer Bay and nearby Polzeath enjoy golden soft sand, rock pools and some of the best surf in the UK. Spectacular cliff top footpaths are the perfect way to explore this area that was a favourite haunt of Sir John Betjeman. (Please note dogs are welcome on Polzeath and Baby Bay before 10am and after 6pm). An excellent range of restaurants are within easy reach including Nathan Outlaw’s Restaurants in Port Isaac, Paul Ainsworth at No. 6 Padstow, and Rick Stein’s seafood restaurant in Padstow. The Dining Room in Rock and Fourboys are also highly regarded. Both Padstow and Wadebridge have an excellent range of local shops catering for all your shopping needs while most everyday supplies can be found at Flo’s Kitchen & Deli in Trebetherick, Spar in Polzeath or the Nursery Stores in Rock. With a fully fitted kitchen you can choose to eat in, or we are very happy to help with dinner suggestions or places to visit. We’ve tried to include everything you need, including towels and linen, but please let us know if anything is missing. Guest access The Annexe is your self-contained space but we are on hand if you need anything or want some recommendations. Park out front and use the key box for access if we are not in. Other things to note We do charge a small pet fee that goes towards cleaning costs which is applied to the booking when you select pets. Dogs must not be allowed in the bedroom or left unattended in the annexe. If you are bringing a pet please try and keep them off the furniture or if snuggling is a must, please put down the blanket that is supplied. We can supply an old towel to keep muddy paw prints at bay and we have a water bowl, but please bring a dog food bowl and pet bed or crate. 🐾
