Description

The cottage is a cosy, quiet, relaxing space with a stone walled orchard style garden out front. It is situated in the heart of Levens Village, which borders the Lake District National Park, Morecambe Bay, Arnside AONB and the Yorkshire Dales, making it an ideal base for lovers of the great outdoors. The space The house is the extension of a 1820 cottage that it backs onto so is a little rough around the edges in places but I hope that adds to the character of the place. I started renovating it over 7 years ago with the intention of selling it on but love it and the village so much I've settled down and now its my forever home. The kitchen has an fan oven and gas hob, fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave, and everything you need to cook meals or enjoy a take-out. There's a washing machine and tumble dryer for longer stays or just drying clothes on rainy days. The wood porch is also a great boot and coat store for the same reason. The log burner in the lounge is a treat in winter. There is good Wifi and a smart TV can be set up if you need it. The sunroom has a small table and chairs that you can leave in the house or set up for breakfast in the garden if you like. The main bedroom is a good size with a comfortable double bed, built in wardrobe (with full length mirror inside) and chest of draws. There is a second bedroom but its my sons and I'd generally prefer not to include it So overall it sleeps 2 adults. The bathroom has a good shower (no bath sorry) but has a view of the garden whilst you shower :) The garden gets the sun in the morning till early evening in the summer so you can sit have breakfast or dinner and watch the bees buzzing around wildflowers, pick herbs for cooking or alpine strawberries for breakfast if there are any left :) There are bike cleaning facilities should you need them. You can park either on the drive outside the house or if you have a second car just before you get to the drive on the road through levens. Neighbourhood highlights Levens is situated on the border of the Lake District National park. The National Trust owned Sizergh Castle and the beautiful house and gardens at Levens Hall are within easy walking distance. There are many local walks in the surrounding area and easy access by car to the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the Silverdale and Arnside AONB. Kendal is just four miles away. Our nearest pubs are the Strickland Arms near Heaves and the Hare and Hound at Levens village. Both provide excellent meals. Also Sizergh Barn Shop and café, well worth visiting to have a meal, walk round the farmland and woodland and buy locally produced delicacies and crafts. Getting around The bus stop on the 555 route from Lancaster to Kendal / Kendal to Keswick is a five minute walk. Mainline train stations closest to us are situated at Carnforth and Oxenholme. Guest access You'll have the entire house and the garden for your stay . Other things to note No pets sorry, although we do have a dog ourselves she is not allowed upstairs or on the furniture. I'm slightly allergic so we have wood stone floors downstairs to help with hoovering etc. So if you are allergic to dogs this place would not be suitable. Some flexibility on check in times, just ask and i will try and accommodate :) In autumn/winter I'll leave a basket of logs and kindling. Generally I don't stock logs for the fire in spring/summer as my logs are seasoning. Guests are requested to leave the cottage how they found it. Its an ecofriendly house as much as possible so would be grateful if you recycle in the bins provided and conserve energy :) We also ask that guests are quiet and respectful of our neighbours.
