Butler Cottage-Royston Station

Royston Station is a place to connect with nature and with yourself. Rest, relax. Let your responsibilities fly to the wide open spaces. Swim, stargaze, walk, birdwatch, photograph, take in the incredible sunsets. The cottage, fronts our baby lake, and is complete with jetty and much bird life. The space Royston Station is about 64km southwest of Longreach on the main highway heading southwest out of town on the road to Jundah and Stonehenge and will even get you as far as Birdsville. It's a good bitumen road to our turn off, then just a short dirt road drive of 4k to your front gate. Butler cottage is one of three in a small paddock adjacent to the main house paddock. Butler Cottage is distant neighbours with Weldon Cottage, both are close to the baby lake with the camp kitchen / laundry / store room building in between. In a past life, Butler Cottage was a station hands living quarters. It maintains some of its rustic feel with a few modern additions, flyscreens, air conditioners, flushing toilet etc. The front verandah is decked out with with squatters chairs and a BBQ and stools for sitting out and letting the world go by. Just through the front door on the left is the combined dining and loungroom. The couch will fold out to a double bed if required but would make the room pretty squeezey. Moving from this room to the back of the cottage is the fully self-contained kitchen and the second smaller bedroom containing a single bed. The front room through the other verandah door is the main bedroom with a double bed. The toilet and shower area is directly out the back door and down a step. The clothesline is also located out there. See photos. The little building adjacent to your cottage mentioned above is where there is a washing machine, pegs, clothes basket etc and a larger fridge/freezer, a big sink etc for you convenience are located. Also stored in there are some pool noodles etc for you to use on the baby lake. The baby lake as we like to call it is a hop, step and jump from your verandah, and the jetty is the perfect place to sit in the morning or afternoon and watch the birds do their thing under a vast changing sky. Guest access The cottage space is completely yours. The little store room building with washing machine, pool noodles, etc etc, is there for your use too. We ask that you stay within the cottage precinct for your own safety and our peace of mind as this is a fully functional working property. Any gates that you come through that are closed, we ask you to close them behind you. otherwise you may have some goats coming to visit you on your front verandah.
