Kookaburra Room (private studio)

The most affordable private room in Gladstone! The self-contained bottom floor of a home with a kitchenette, private bathroom and separate private entrance. The home backs onto a nature strip with ocean views and some visiting wildlife. The space The large air conditioned room has a double bed, dining table and small kitchenette. The space is set-up as a very basic studio apartment with a private bathroom (with a standing shower), and a locked storage room at the end. It’s a budget room I always price check to stay the cheapest room in the area - but it is full of lots of natural light and greenery, with direct views of the ocean. Access to the studio space is through a private access down the side of the house. (Please note: there are 10 steps.) This is the bottom floor of an occupied house, so you may hear sounds of life from the upstairs living space as I move around the living room and kitchen - but this listing offers self check-in so there’s no interaction with the host. There is an internal staircase (included in the photos) connecting the floors that is locked for privacy and security, guests cannot access the top floor for any reason. The kitchenette includes a bar fridge (no freezer), wine fridge, sink, microwave, rice maker, kettle, coffee maker and basics like cutlery, cutting board, cups and bowls. [Please note the host rules: Do not bring a stove with you. If you need to use a stove during your stay, please find a listing with a kitchen.] Included are linens, wifi, coffee and tea, and basic cleaning supplies in the cabinet above the microwave. There are no laundry services in this room but it is a 5 minute drive to the closest laundromat in South Gladstone. Spare towels are in the bathroom. There is also a clothesline along the pathway to your room, feel free to use it. Guest access Entry to the studio is down a private path with 10 steps (photos included). There is an internal connecting staircase that is closed off, guests do not have access upstairs into the upstairs living area for any reason. The backyard space is shared access with the homeowner and the studio’s patio area is below the upstairs deck. I stay on the upper level and leave the lower level private for guests. There is a hot tub outside the studio but this hot tub is not filled or serviced and is not available for guests to use. It has a valid pool safety certificate for child safety, but please just don’t enter the pool fence.
