~Check Host's Account for all Listings at Salem House~ This listing has two charming bedrooms that are equipped with queen beds and have space for hanging and storing clothes. Six foot windows make them bright and airy. They are separate rooms each with their own keyed lock. They share an alcove and a full bathroom. Join us for a home-cooked breakfast in the morning. As a true Bed and Breakfast GUESTS DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO COOKING AREAS OF THE KITCHEN. The space Salem house is an historic part of the old city in Lafayette. Built in 1858 she has grown and been reconfigured over the course of her 160+ years. Originally Salem House was owned by Godlove Behm, an attorney and colonel in the Union army serving with Ulysses S Grant. Later she was called home by the Marks family for over 90 years. Through the decades she fell onto hard times and was broken into apartments. The Ferrell family lovingly restored her status to a single family home in the 1990's. We have maintained the historic flavor in the Bed and Breakfast today and are eager to share it with our guests. Rooms 1+2 are booked together with a queen bed and a designated shared bathroom. Connected by an alcove with workspace and can be rented separately or together. Room 3 has a king size bed and sitting area with a couch that pull out into a full size bed. The room also has a large bathroom, workspace, lots of big bright windows, and nice views. The original coal burning fireplace with its carved marble mantle adds a beautiful touch to the room but is no longer functional. Room 4 is a newly added a cozy, romantic room in the the attic which has a queen bed and is big enough to put a couple of airbed in there is needed. It also has a private bath and come quirky "attic" features Room 5 is a ground floor room with private exterior entrance with private deck . This room offers a queen size bed, private bath and a workspace.. Guest access Parking lot access is on 11th street in back of house. There is also plenty of street parking on 10th and 11th streets. The main entrance is from the parking lot through the gardens to the back lobby door. Guests will be greeted by host. Fingerprint access to outside door and room keys will be given upon arrival. Guest may also show up at the front door on Salem Street and the host will direct you to parking and the main entrance. During your stay I live in the back apartment of the house and am around most of the time. If you need anything and cannot find me just call or text through the app. Other things to note Guest should expect to use stairs to second floor rooms. This historic house comes with little quirks with lighting, plumbing and other modern conveniences added over the decades. if you have any questions about how things function don't hesitate to contact the host.
