Bohemian Villa in the Cape Winelands
Description
Allow yourself to be transported by the “dolce farniente” ambiance of this mediterranean escape in the Cape Winelands. An unexpected bohemian oasis set among old plum orchards with majestic views of the Drakenstein and Simonsberg mountains. The villa is a spacious and stylishly restored Spanish revival folly. It weaves together soulful elements of the owner’s childhood years in a Freestate farm house with the artistic, Mediterranean mélange of her time spent in Italy and France. The space We converted the old pack shed on the farm into a culture club called Die Boekklub and the outbuildings into two cottages named after our grandmothers: The Ouma Koeksie and The Ouma Celia. These are also available for rental along with the Villa and spacious, open-plan loft apartment referred to as the Artist’s Studio. Die Boekklub is a venue for cultural events, but there is a bed on the mezzanine for those who want to feel like they are sleeping in the Hall of The Mountain King. The Villa, Studio and Cottages are linked by a communal pool area and rambling gardens providing ample space for a large group of friends or extended family to connect and celebrate together and still retreat to the privacy and quiet of their own abodes. Guest access The villa’s dining room opens up onto lawns lined with bougainvillea that tumble towards the swimming pool. This area is exclusively for villa guests while the pool and lower lawns, as well as the orchards beyond, are shared with the cottages tucked away at the far end of the garden.
