The space The Alpena church was first organized in 1884 by three charter members as the “First German Baptist Church of Alpena.” and the corner of Fourth Avenue and Sable Street was the location of the first church, which finished construction in ~1888. After falling into a state of bad disrepair, the property was fully restored and converted to a short term rental over the course of a year. This unique property has incredible lighting throughout and gorgeous vaulted ceilings with architectural tile, 2 bedrooms on the main floor, and a balcony loft with two king beds and a work station as well as a full basement. There are remnants of the building's history as a former church all around including two original windows still present as well as the original wainscoting around the outside of the once cathedral. The living room has an enormous 10ft table with two church pews that provide seating for 12 or more and an elongated couch with views of an 85" smart TV. The bathrooms are all divisible between showers and sinks to make getting ready ideal for large groups. The living room opens to a fully outfitted kitchen and a second dining area. The downstairs has been completely finished with the original limestone foundation exposed. There are games, a huge couch ideal for movie nights and another 85" smart TV. There is also expansion sleeping for six with two queen murphy beds as well as two twin trundle beds. Outside you'll find a fully fenced in yard with a gas firepit, cafe lights, and a gas barbeque as well as parking for 4 cars (street parking is free as well). The location is ideal being just a short walk from the downtown "social district" and then many things to do while in Alpena, MI. This truly is an incredibly unique property that is ideal for wedding parties, reunions, and both large and small groups. Every detail was thought through and planned with the end in mind.
