Rivertown Mid-Century
Rivertown Mid-Century
Description
The Overlook house is a warm and intimate living space nestled in day light and nature. The home is situated within abundant trees and rock outcroppings typical along the geography of the Hudson River The space True to typical Mid-Century styles, Overlook is a split-level home. The kitchen, dining and living room are all on the main level, which is accessed from the front door and side door into the mudrrom. The kitchen and dining areas feature pitch ceilings for fantastic widows and open feel. The mudroom and covered patio, with outdoor dining table, are also on the main level. At the upper level are 3 bedrooms and the bathroom with bathtub. The beds at this level are king, queen and 3 twins. For bedroom 3, we can place cribs or twins, whatever works for you group. All rooms have excellent light and nature views. The lower level houses the office/library area with piano, and the 4th bedroom with 2 twin beds. Off of this 4th bedroom is access to the lower outside area, with outdoor dining and seating furniture, BBQ grill and fire pit. The 2nd bathroom is off the office/library level – newly renovated with shower. The Overlook home is on a double lot, with plenty of trees, perennials, ferns and other native plants, much nestled amongst rock outcroppings, which are known. This provides ‘green’ views from almost every vantage and offers peaceful privacy. Guest access The home has 2 main entries, the front door and side door off the mudroom. The coded lock is at the side door entrance. Other things to note You can see the skyscrapers of NYC from the Hastings Train Station, which is also a delightful coffee shop, Good Witch. It is about a 35 minute train ride to the famous Grand Central Terminal, which is an architectural destination unto itself. Taking the train north can lead to many popular towns of upstate NY: Cold Spring, Beacon, and Hudson to name a few. Overall, Hastings is a great launching point to upstate New York adventures The commuter parking for the train station hosts a Farmer’s Market the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from April through October and is a wonderful community gathering for locals and many of their dogs 😊 Hastings hosts a number of trails and trailways such as the Croton-Aqueduct trail and the South Country Trailway. Both are free of cars and great for walking and biking. Less than 2 miles south, along the Croton-Aqueduct trail, are the Lenior Preserve and Untermeyer Gardens. We have put together an in-depth guide to the Village of Hastings and surrounding attractions and experiences and look forward to passing that on to our guests.
