Pretty lodge in a private coppice.

Spartan Retreats offers a relaxed pet friendly, eco friendly glamping experience on a working farm, in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside. Nestled within it's own private coppice, some 200m from the nearest properties, Spartan Lodge offers lovely woodland views, a quirky washroom and outdoor cooking options. The perfect base to explore the Cotswolds, Stratford Upon Avon, Cheltenham and beyond. There is much to see, much to do and some lovely historic pubs within easy reach. The space Spartan Lodge is light and airy with 17 sq m of living space.  The double bed is positioned centally, to take in the views of the coppice and the seating/dining area is furnished with vintage and up cycled furniture. The small kitchen is fitted with all necessary mod-cons, including 'RV' style gas oven, electric single ring hob, mini hotel fridge (with ice box), kettle, toaster and cafetiere. Pots, pans, crockery and cutlery are all provided. The horse trailer 'Forest Dump' has been converted into a self contained wash room.   While the trailer has been left as authentic as possible, with the original floorboards, bridle hooks and tie rings, modern day conveniences have been included.  The gas powered shower provides ample hot water and a waterless, (non flush) compost toilet ensures the eco-friendly credentials. There is a complementary selection of 'green' toiletries. Outside there is a small deck which provides the perfect place to wallow in comfy chairs and relax under the canopy of trees. A fire pit, barbecue and outdoor pizza oven sit in a sun lit clearing and provide convienient outdoor cooking options. Fuel is provided, with a honesty box for longer stays. Your canine companion will love to explore the securely fenced coppice. The deck provides them with the perfect sun trap and a large belfast sink doubles as a paddling pool. The hot outdoor shower, with 'free from' shampoo will be appreciated in cooler temperatures. Dog towels and planet friendly treats and preloved tennis balls are all provided. There is welcome pack of daily essentials including bread, butter, milk and eggs together with a selection of hot drinks, all sourced from ethical (Fair Trade, B Corp) companies. We have endeavoured to make Spartan Retreats as environmentally friendly as possible. Preloved furniture has been given a new lease of life, while many of the soft furnishings have been manufactured from recycled materials. Whenever possible, we have chosen to work with forward thinking British brands, with big ideas and exciting eco credentials. Guest access Guests have private access to the lodge, washroom and the 1/3 an acre of coppice which is situated on a 30 acre smallholding. The nearest properties are some 200m away, but there may be noise from passing farm traffic, dogs and livestock. Other things to note The washroom is a 5m woodchip walk from the lodge. While there is a water supply to the shower and wash basin, the toilet is a waterless, non flush Simploo compost unit. There is ample hot water, and a heated towel rail, but the washroom isn't insulated. Guest may wish to bring flip-flops in case of a midnight dash. Mobile signal can be intermittent. There are no curtains or window dressings over the main entrance door, in order to maximise the natural light. We are in a hard water area and despite my best efforts, the towels will feel like they have been laundered in a cement mixer. Please keep your dog off the bed and chairs when wet or dirty. Dog friendly throws and extra dog blankets are provided for when you want a canine cuddle up. Dog crates are available (in various sizes) should you wish to contain your dog after a wash.  While the coppice is 'securely' fenced with stock wire and post and rail, we ask you please supervise your dog at all times, especially seasoned escapologists and those who have form 😉 The horses and rams are dog friendly, but the ewes and lambs run....inevitably into the brook! We are a small working farm. The entrance gate and track are 'agricultural' and will bring you though the working heart (ugly part) of the farm. While this access isn't the prettiest, it does provide you with your own entrance and additional privacy. Please don't wander towards the house as my own dog, Reggie Kray likes ankles! The coppice borders a neighbouring smallholding who also have dogs and livestock.
