Adirondack Salt Box Hideaway
Adirondack Salt Box Hideaway
Description
Centrally located salt box home in a quiet neighborhood 5 minutes from town of Corinth and 20 minutes from Glens Falls and Saratoga. Several acres of woods to explore behind the house. Spacious yard with places to sit outside and a burn barrel for evening fires. Pet friendly. We moved in to this home July 2024 so we are just starting the process of updating. We are less than five miles from access to Hudson River, Jessup’s landing and some Moreau state park trails. The space This is the only Airbnb space we have in our home. The bedroom is private and only used for guests. Our neighbors, friends and adult children stop in often. Feel free to join in and be part of whatever we are doing. We have been adding flower gardens and a blueberry patch. Summer 2025 we added chickens. The basement is being set up and finished for my balloon business and I do a lot of work at home. I’m learning piano and often practice in the mornings and evenings. Guest access Bedroom is completely private. We live in our home so all the rest of the space is shared. Bathrooms: There are shared bathrooms downstairs and upstairs. We have a septic tank so only toilet paper and bodily refuse goes in the toilet. No food, grease, chemicals, flushable wipes, tampons or other health items. There are cleaning wipes in the bathrooms if you ever feel it needs a little extra clean or if you find you want to wipe something else down before use. Rags are under the bathroom sinks and we have baby wipes sitting throughout the house. Garbage: we take our garbage to the dump a couple times a year when we have a hundred pounds. Please do not put food in the garbage. It can be composted, fed to the worms or chickens, or put in the freezer. Cardboard can be burned or recycled and plastic containers can be recycled. Paper is shredded for privacy, magazines and bulky mail go in a paper bag. Amenities: Please ask for what you need and we will get things for you if we have them. We have extra toothbrushes, body scrubbers and other basics on hand for guests - just ask. Kitchen: You are welcome to use the kitchen for cooking. Please clean up and if we are trying to make a meal then most likely we are happy to share with you so you can join in and help or wait until we are done and then you can use the kitchen. Please clean up the kitchen when you are done. -There is an instant hot for tea on the left side of the sink and we keep a few varieties of tea on hand. There is also honey, sugar and stevia for sweeteners and we usually have creamer and milk in the fridge. Piano: I'm learning how to play the piano so help yourself if it's not in use. Be nice to it and nothing goes on top of the piano or bench except what is already there. Dining Room: This doubles as workspace - feel free to use the table to work at unless we are using it for meals. Pets: We have a small white cockatiel that flies around and doesn’t stay in a cage . Be careful with doors so she doesn’t escape. The lights are voice activated. We try to leave one on later at night until guests get in and then tell the lights to turn off. The bird can get agitated and be noisy if the lights get left on at night. The dog does bark at strangers. He’s very friendly. Just speak kindly to him and let him smell your hand and he will calm down quickly. He can go out the back door and doesn’t usually have a leash. Back room: You are welcome to sit in the backroom and read, visit with us, play games, join in a game if we are playing... Jump in and be part of our family. Entertainment: Games and some other activities are in the hutch in the front room. We have a variety of children’s books around the house and there are some trail and kayaking guide books available also. We do not have tv or cable. WiFi: We have T-Mobile 5G and the wifi is set up to work through a large portion of the yard. We are finding it doesn’t work very well in the front by the garage. Yard: Go explore the woods or take a walk. Chairs on the deck and a picnic table in the yard. We have four acres and our neighbor owns another 25. Leave the space better than before. No fires in the woods, no littering and no drugs or smoking pot. It's fine to use the burn barrel - keep the fire low so the heat is not damaging to the nearby trees. The back yard is fenced in for the chickens. They have an electric fence around their coops and free range during the day. Basement: The laundry is in the basement and you may use the laundry as needed. Do NOT overstuff the laundry! There is also a small microwave in the basement. -The rest of the basement is workspace and private. Garage: the garages are private. If you need something in the garage then ask us or message us and we will let you know where to find it or get it for you. During your stay Please let us know of any needs or concerns. Message us, find us... we are very responsive to our guests and try our best to be accommodating. We try our best to get back to you asap. There are times we are out of service, on the motorcycle, in the middle of church service or just can't get back right away but we will do our best. We welcome our guests to join us in meals, relaxing, meeting friends and playing games. More people means more fun. We don't expect anyone to hide in their rooms for their entire stay but certainly understand if you need to focus or are tired from traveling. Other things to note We have hosted in two previous homes and have had a total of 6 airbnb rooms that we were running for a time between the two homes. Our rules, notes and policies come from experience with past interactions and knowing what we are ok with and not. We want you to be comfortable and have a great time so we do our best to set clear expectations up front. We love hosting and having people in our home. We have wonderful neighbors and it is easy to access several different popular areas from our location. There are things to do year round and those who like to explore and enjoy the outdoors will have the most fun in our home. Guest who need to work will find the space mostly quiet as it‘s just my husband and I living here. WiFi is set up in a large portion of the lawn so you can work outside when it‘s nice if you like.
