Description
Little Rest Studio overlooks 100 acres of conservation land, primarily oak and hickory forest. Recently renovated by the owners and full of personal, handmade touches, this apartment was originally conceived as a temporary ARTIST’S residence and occupies the top story of an English-style BARN otherwise used as a photographer's WORKSHOP. We offer a chance to slow down and meet the season, relax in the warmth of the wood stove or the bath, and be a human in a lovingly handmade retreat. The space We are on 2.5 acres along rural Rt 97 in Connecticut's Quiet Corner, aka The Last Green Valley. We live in a 1790's cape on the property that we are restoring, and we share the property with a small flock of chickens. We are surrounded by 100 acres of conservation land managed by Joshua's Trust. The 3 story BARN you will be staying in was built c. 1990 and houses my husband's photography workshop, which may be in limited use during your stay. You have a private staircase to the studio and the balcony off the bedroom is essentially private, blocked from the house and the road and facing the forest. We have been renovating the studio since we purchased the property in 2019. This is a rural setting, and a rustic building, surrounded by a number of other historic and rustic structures: nature and historical provenance are at the heart of this property. Guest access Guests are welcome to enjoy our yard and interact with the chickens and children who may be enjoying it simultaneously! Other things to note The apartment is heated by a small wood stove.. Window AC units are installed in summer. Windows are old-fashion 6-over-6, no sash, resting over fitted screens when open. Shower is untreated cedar, water discoloration is normal. If you are seeking a climate-controlled, bug-free environment this will not be a good fit. This is a tree-top apartment, untreated wood flooring, surrounded by roughly 100 acres of woodland.
