The space Welcome to The Guest House at Mt. Independence—a peaceful, two-bedroom retreat nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Once a working machine shop, this unique space has been lovingly restored with handcrafted furniture, rustic architecture, and curated artifacts that honor the land’s Native American roots, including a striking hand-carved totem pole. Guests enjoy a full kitchen, cozy living spaces, and sweeping views ideal for sunset watching and stargazing. Whether you're sipping wine from nearby vineyards, hiking the Appalachian Trail, tubing the Shenandoah River, or dining at local restaurants, this soulful hideaway offers the perfect balance of adventure, reflection, and renewal—just 90 minutes from the hustle of the DMV. Guest access You enter through a private security gate and follow a scenic drive set back from the main road to reach the guest house. Less than 5 miles from the Paris/Delaplane exit off Route 66, it’s easily accessible yet feels worlds away. You’ll have full access to the home and surrounding grounds, including a brand-new pavilion—perfect for weddings and special events—framed by the Blue Ridge foothills. This is a working farm, complete with two friendly pups who may stop by to say hello. With a winery across the street and nature all around, it’s a peaceful place to unwind, explore, and reconnect. Other things to note Please note that The Guest House at Mt. Independence is located on a 40-acre working farm in the Virginia countryside. While this means peaceful views, starlit skies, and plenty of room to roam, it also means you may encounter a few of nature’s quirks—gravel roads, early morning birdsong, and the occasional visit from our two friendly farm dogs. Cell service can be spotty depending on your provider, but we do offer reliable Wi-Fi for staying connected. The property is intentionally set apart from the hustle and bustle, so we recommend arriving with groceries or essentials, as the nearest store is a short drive away. We are happy to do the shopping for you if an extended day is planned. This is a place to unplug, slow down, and enjoy the land—so bring your boots, your sense of adventure, and a heart ready for rest. Your host, Stephen, is always a text or call away. Please don't hesitate to reach out. Cheers!
