Relax at our family heritage home. Enjoy the view of Mount McCaleb in the Lost River Mount range from the front porch. Mount Borah is a short distance up the valley for those who want the adventure of climbing the highest mountain in Idaho. The Big Lost river offers some of the best trout fishing in Idaho with the Mackay reservoir right up the road for those who like to fish from boats or from the bank. We are located right on the edge of Mackay so it is a short walk or drive to town. The space No pets in the cabin. We have family members that stay here that are allergic to pet dander. we understand you love your furry friends, just keep them outside. There is lots of room for them in the yard. No smoking in or close to the cabin. Do not drive on the grass or yard. Leave your vehicle and ATV in the parking area. Other things to note Mackay is known as the ATV capital of Idaho. You can drive your ATV on any of the cities streets. There are many roads and trails for your off roading adventures. You can climb over mountains, through canyons and even past some ghost towns. You can go on a self guided tour around "Mine Hill." You can go swimming, boating, water skiing and fishing at Mackay Reservoir, which is just a few miles down the road from our cabin. Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve is about 45 miles away. It is a vast ocean of lava flows with scattered islands of cinder cones. Visitors can explore the trails, caves and scenic overlooks along the park's 7 mile Loop Road About 24 miles away is Mount Borah trail head, the highest mountain in Idaho at 12,662 feet. It is a popular destination for hikers and climbers, but considered highly challenging, especially due to "Chicken Out Ridge" which includes sections of exposed scrambling and a steep elevation gain.
