PLEASE READ ALL THE DETAILS OF OUR LISTING. This is our Basic Blue Basecamp, no thrills, just a safe, clean and partially updated and freshly painted place to sleep, shower, and cook. No TV, No WiFi or internet. Pretend it's 2005 and talk to each other. But seriously this is a very simple, no thrills space, for folks that just want a good basecamp to enjoy all the natural beauty of Katahdin area. The space -Very small, two story house at the back of the property. -There are two twin beds downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs each with a twin bed. -The living room which you walk into is where the two twin beds are located. There is no couch, coffee table or TV. -Bathroom has new vanity, new lighting, new medicine cabinet and a resurfaced historic old claw foot bathtub with shower. Bathroom is located upstairs. -Kitchen has an older gas stove/oven, new fridge, new microwave, and a fold out table with metal chairs. -We do supply a coffee pot and very basic pots, pans, dishes and silverware and utensils. -There is no AC, however, we have four fans and the windows do open for a nice breeze. Please see detail instructions for opening the windows since this is an older home. -There is heat from the floor vents on the bottom floor only. -Per the city of Millinocket fire code, we have a ladder outside the front bedroom, side window on the second floor attached to the house with an exit sign by the window. This window does have a lock and should be locked at all times. This is for emergencies only. -There is also an emergency exit door in the kitchen that is marked by the stove. -We have two houses on this property that we own, smaller Airbnb unit-Blue house and a larger white house which is currently vacant. When looking at our property, next to our white house that we own, there is a very run down property on the right hand side. We do not own this but want to make guest aware of this property since it is in such poor condition. There is no one living there and it is currently up for sale. We do have a picture from across the street view so that you can see this property. Guest access You have the whole house. Other things to note Baxter State Park, Mt. Katahdin and the great outdoors. If you are looking for the Ritz-Carlton, this ain’t it. However, if you are looking for a safe, clean and we hope, comfortable place to stay at a fair price we are for you. We have good beds, kitchen basics, etc. after a long day's hike or just enjoying the wonderful outdoors away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. We bought five properties in Millinocket in 2021-2022 and have been working hard on redoing the inside of the units. Each of these properties is over a 100 years old. Older homes like ours and others in the area are not perfect, they have their quirks and flaws, so if you are the kind of person that can respect the age of the properties and everything that goes along with them we would love to have you as our guest. We thoroughly clean after each guest, however, for individuals highly sensitive to smells this may not be the ideal place since older homes may have an old woodsy smell, like an old wooden church or a house with a old basement. We do not want to overwhelm our guests with the smell of cleaning products and/or air fresheners and try to use fragrance free items where we can so we have chosen to put air purifiers in our units to help with the old smell of a 100 year old home. We know the outside of each of the properties needs updating, as most houses do in our quaint little town. This is an ongoing process for us as we are not only trying to make our properties better but also to improve our entire community. As we make updates both inside and out, we post pictures on updates as we can so you can make an informed decision. Millinocket is a very small town (population about 4,200) and is known for its outdoor activities: hiking, fishing, etc., however, the town itself there is not too much else to do in this small town and most things are closed by 8 pm. There is a McDonald’s, Subway, and a few locally owned restaurants that we love to frequent regularly, however, most restaurants are not open in the winter, always call before going just to make sure. There is not a night life since things close early, the streets usually roll up about 8 pm. So according to some former guests, as you can read in reviews, they think that Millinocket is a very bland area, we don’t agree, we love it here. If you are looking for big city action to dance the night away or to dine at Michelin chef gourmet restaurants, Millinocket is not for you. We would recommend New York City for those types of people. Our unit does not have a washer and dryer. There is only one laundromat located at 59 Central St. in Millinocket. The phone number on their website is wrong and the hours posted are not always the case. According to the locals in town, he often shuts the place down on a whim and really does not like anyone to start washing after 3 pm so he can close down quickly. The guy who runs it is Carl, we cannot list phone numbers on this site, but we can text it to you if you need it. There is another laundromat but it is in the town of Lincoln about 20 minutes away. So we ask that you please plan accordingly if you need to do your laundry during your trip. Please note that the parks book up early so make sure to make your reservations. We also ask that you please read all our notes carefully, we work diligently to make sure all of our units are accurately detailed and the photos are kept updated, so on every level your expectations are met and hopefully exceed. We want you to love Millinocket and our places as much as we do.
