The Old Posthouse, New Forest National Park

Once the village shop and Post Office, The Old Posthouse has been lovingly converted into a welcoming retreat in the heart of the New Forest. Located in the peaceful village of Pilley, this unique property sits within the National Park, with forest walks, wild ponies and beautiful scenery on the doorstep. The local shop and pub are within walking distance, and the historic coastal town of Lymington is a short drive away. The space Spacious and comfortably furnished, The Old Posthouse offers... GROUND FLOOR Bedroom: Kingsize bed with hotel-quality mattress, wardrobe and chest of drawers. Kitchen: a large, light and bright kitchen with island and bar stools. Includes microwave, double oven and grill, induction hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Shower room: spacious shower cubicle and toilet. Living and Dining room: dining table that seats six, three seater sofa, two seater sofa and reclining armchair. Freesat TV with online streaming apps, DVD player and DVDs, books and board games. FIRST FLOOR Bedroom: Kingsize bed with hotel-quality mattress, wardrobe, dressing table and hairdryer. Bedroom: Twin beds, chest of drawers, wardrobe. Bathroom: bath with overhead shower Separate Toilet WIFI Please be aware that you are in a rural location and there can occasionally be lapses in wifi signal. Please contact the host if you have problems. You should also be aware that the mobile phone signal can be patchy in this area. OUTDOORS Courtyard garden: This is at the rear of the property, reached through French Doors from the kitchen, with dining table and chairs and sofa. There is room to store bikes in the courtyard behind a lockable gate - please contact host for details. Parking: The Old Posthouse is on a quiet road that has a hard shoulder on both sides (built to park tanks in Second World War!), so there is room for one large car or two smaller ones immediately outside the property. There is plenty of space directly across the road for any other cars. All parking is free, but please don't park across any driveways. NEARBY From the front door you can be walking on the forest in five minutes - we'll let you know lots of great routes and how to make the most of this unique and beautiful location. It's a ten minute walk to the Village Shop and Post Office, and the Fleur de Lys - the oldest pub in the New Forest. The nearest town is Lymington with its historic harbour and a vibrant high street with plenty of great shops and restaurants. Trips to the seaside are only a short drive away, as well as the historic village of Beaulieu, Exbury steam railway and gardens, Bucklers Hard, Peppa Pig World (Paultons Park) and many other tourist attractions. Guest access You will have your own front door and full access to the courtyard garden which is fenced off for privacy. Please note that a gardener uses the five bar gate and the driveway for access to next door's garden on a Monday afternoon. Other things to note CHILDREN Unfortunately we do not cater for children under 5 as we don't supply high chairs, cots or a stair-gate at the top of the stairs. DOGS We welcome one well behaved dog - please contact host before booking We love our furry friends, but please be aware that not all of our guests do, and for that reason dogs are not allowed upstairs or in the downstairs bedroom - basically anywhere where there are carpets. There will be a shell dog bed in the kitchen, as well as drinking and food bowls. We would be grateful if you could bring your own dog bedding/blankets to go in the shell bed, as well as your own towels for cleaning them off after walks in the forest. Please use fleeces provided in the living room if your dog wants to join you on the sofas. If you could take them out on their leads at the front of the house for them to go to the toilet that would be great. Finally we ask that dogs are never left alone in the house during your stay. BIKES The New Forest National Park is a great landscape for cycling. If you are bringing bikes, please let me know and I’ll give you the combination to the lock on the gate so you can keep them in the courtyard, out of sight from the road. Please be aware we do not allow bikes to be stored in the house. The gate must be locked behind you, otherwise ponies and donkeys come into the courtyard and eat the plants! GARDENER Please note that a gardener uses the five bar gate and the driveway for access to next door's garden on a Monday afternoon. He will park on the driveway and access next door's garden via the courtyard.
