Naturesong Retreat is a beautifully appointed, modern cabin with ridgetop views of the Driftless hills. Come for a peaceful retreat, with easy access to amenities and outdoor adventure. Enjoy sunrise and sunset from the wraparound porch, hike in the forest on our 33 acres, or visit nearby Wildcat Mountain State Park and Kickapoo Valley Reserve, each less than 20 minutes away. Located just outside the quaint town of Hillsboro, it is approx. 45 minutes from both the Wisconsin Dells and Viroqua. The space Naturesong Retreat is a serene, 2-story cabin with incredible views in the rolling hills of the Driftless region of Wisconsin. On the first floor, there is an open living/dining area and small, well-appointed kitchen. The main bedroom on the first floor has an Amish-built log bed featuring a new Queen-sized memory foam mattress. Upstairs in the airy, open loft there is a bedroom area on one end with 2 twin beds, and a workspace on the other end with large desk and window seat. The loft workspace features an organic, Queen-sized futon to accommodate additional guests. (These are not separate, enclosed bedrooms. The loft has open viewing). Rest easy with room-darkening shades throughout the cabin. The full bath has a shower only (no tub) with a small hot water heater. We test our well annually to ensure safety for drinking straight from the tap, and we provide a water filter pitcher in the fridge. The porch wraps around 3 sides of the cabin with a porch swing on the East side for sunrise viewing (on the side by our neighbor's house), and a loveseat and dining set on the West side for enjoying the sunset. The yard features a fire pit. Enjoy free parking in the dedicated driveway leading to the cabin steps. Explore the forest on our 33 acres. We encourage you to enjoy time in nature, offline, and we also provide fast, fiber internet WiFi. There is no TV. The natural insulation of the log cabin keeps the temperature fairly comfortable, and there's a heater/air conditioner wall unit for use when needed, as well as a room air purifier unit. We provide luxurious towels and sheets and there's very little you need to do at check out! Come and relax, and reconnect with nature. In the nearby, quaint town of Hillsboro, find grocery stores, an inviting coffee shop called Let’s Shine, the Hillsboro Brewing Company, and a bike trail connecting to the “400” State Trail (biking, walking, and jogging trail) that criss-crosses the Baraboo River. Drive less than 20 minutes to reach Wildcat Mountain State Park, the Kickapoo Valley Reserve, and world-class trout-fishing. Located approximately 45 minutes from the Wisconsin Dells and Viroqua, use Naturesong Retreat as a home base for exploring the unique Driftless area (so named because the glaciers did NOT drift here, leaving beautiful hills, valley, and rivers vs. the typical flattened Midwest). You're welcome to bring your dog if they can stay OUTSIDE on the covered porch. No pets allowed inside the cabin (strict policy due to severe allergies). Please message us to inquire about adding a pet to your reservation. Guest access You will have access to and full, private use of the entire cabin, porch, yard, and driveway, and you may hike on the property. Note that the woodstove in the cabin is unavailable for guest use due to insurance requirements (guests are instead invited to use the outdoor fire pit). There are a few locked cabinets in the cabin and an enclosed shed containing tools and equipment on the South side of the cabin that are also restricted. There's a chance we may be staying in our RV on the land, accessed via a separate driveway. You typically won't see us unless you hike that way or we need to get something out of the shed. If we need to access the shed attached to the cabin, we'll give you a heads up. The property is a working farm, so you may see and/or hear activity in the fields or orchard. Please use an approach of "Leave No Trace" when exploring the land. More info. on our property boundaries can be found in the guest guidebook in the cabin. Other things to note Note the sleeping arrangements to make sure they match your privacy needs. With 4 beds (2 queen and 2 twin), the maximum number of guests Naturesong Retreat can accommodate is 6. There is only 1 enclosed bedroom. The other beds are in the open loft. Please let us know if you will be using the extra Queen futon in the loft workspace, as it will need to be set up as a bed. If it isn't set up when you arrive, you may set it up using the instructions in the guidebook. Sheets and bedding are located in the closet next to it. Smoking and vaping of any kind is strictly prohibited at Naturesong Retreat. Dogs can stay outside on the covered porch. There is an "igloo" style dog house on the porch you are welcome to use. The porch has railings all around it, with gates that latch. Pets must never come inside the cabin.
