Located just 3 miles from an Interstate with quick access to Lake Hartwell, UGA, Clemson, Helen, Atlanta so much more! The space The history of this Fantastic, Fifties Farmhouse is rich! In 1955, Hoyt and Mittie Harrison built this house and an adjoining milking parlor on the 100 acre lot given to her by her father. She had 10 siblings and in the late 1800's her father gave each child 100 acres. Can you imagine... 11 children and farming at least 1100 acres of land near the turn of the century? There are remnants of bridge crossing and a wagon road across the hillside in the woods just beyond the field behind the house. The Shed at Papa's Creek in the event venue sitting on the hillside beyond that field. The stone building and old dairy barn are now off limits but is in early stages of a restoration and the combined sites will be Franklin County Agricultural Legacy Center in honor and celebration of our Agricultural heritage. The house has the original cabinetry, narrow hardwood floors, tub and even bathroom sink and ceiling fans in kitchen and 2 bedrooms. (The 2rd bedroom has a ceiling fan but it is not original to structure.) Built to last, this building was constructed with square headed nails and locally sawn lumber. The cedar bedroom suite was hand constructed by a local furniture maker in the '50's for a family member of the Harrisons. The other furnishings and decor speak of the happy days of another time and beckon to you to enjoy your stay here at the Fantastic, Fifties Farmhouse.
