Description
Welcome to our converted school bus! This Skoolie is a beautiful tiny living experience located next to our river house with beach & boat access to the Clearwater River. Heat, A/C, running water, electricity, kitchen, full bathroom, a washer and dryer, and 4 extra long single bunk beds. We converted and traveled in the bus with efficiency, light, comfort and adventure in mind. Be the first to cast in the morning, enjoy coffee on the rocky beach, or a river float only a few yards away! The space Enjoy Clearwater River beach access and be the first cast on the river for bass, salmon or steelhead season! Get out for some paddle boarding, floating, nearby hiking, hunting, motorbiking or any of the other outdoor adventures enjoyed in the peaceful Clearwater Valley area. You'll love one of our local coffee shops within walking distance or a convenient 5 minute drive to town for grocery or dinner options. Our bus, “Ole Bess” as we affectionately call her, is currently parked in the driveway of our River House (which will soon also be available for Airbnb but is not quite ready yet!). This property is right across a dead end road to the river beach. Views from the bus include trees and the mountain valley and it is a short walk to access the waterfront views at the beach. This is a river rock beach with a small section of sand. If you have a high clearance vehicle, you can drive onto the beach to drop your boat in right here! Please check with us for river height depending on the time of year before making your plans. The bus is a 2007 International that was used as a school bus in Spotsylvania County, Virginia before we got her and turned her into our tiny home adventure mobile. We did the whole conversion ourselves and traveled all around the United States for 2 years before landing in Idaho. We still use her occasionally for family adventures; we are happy to share with you in between! The bus exterior is 40 ft long and 8 ft wide with about 240 square feet inside. The front of the bus has a large couch, table and bench, and small kitchen. The kitchen has a gas stove top, fridge, small freezer, French coffee press and electric kettle. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pans, spices etc. Currently, the oven is not usable. It has running water, electricity, 1 a/c unit in the front of the bus and fans in the back. The middle of the bus has a full bathroom with composting toilet and hot shower. There is also an RV size washer and dryer and large clothes space storage (for a tiny home that is!). The back of the bus has a cabin vibe with 4 bunk beds, fans in each bed, and large drawers underneath. Guest access You have the whole bus to yourselves. Since our River House is not ready on the inside for guests yet, you are welcome to use the patio and grill there as well for a great outdoor space. You are also welcome to the fenced in yard. Please do not use the swings and, of course, the house is not part of the deal. We do have friends and relatives that visit and they stay in the river house occasionally. We will update you if we expect anyone else to be around the property when you are staying in the bus! Other things to note The bus is an exciting and fun space! We love getting time in it, the memories we have made, and the friends we have shared it with. The sense of adventure and joy that we have when in it offsets what could be called some of its personality quirks. For instance, it is a home that can go anywhere and we have parked it in some pretty wild places and rugged terrain. Currently, it is in our driveway and while fairly flat it is not perfectly level. The following are some of the other details that we can think of that might not appeal to everyone but make some of the whimsy of living in a bus so appealing to others! The bunk beds are more like single size not twin. Meaning they are longer but a little narrower than a regular twin. Seeing how our kids aren't growing any smaller we made them for adults to fit in including removable side rails on bottom bunks if preferred. Full indoor rainfall shower head with compostable toilet (you will have instructions upon arrival). It is very easy to use. Please look up compost toilets before booking if this is a concern for you! (There is also a handheld shower arm that we are working on repairing so the handheld part isn't functioning right now) The bus is insulated, but not like a house. The temperature range can be pretty wide here in all seasons. The propane furnace with adjustable thermostat in the bus is quite strong if needed in the cooler months or evenings. In the summer, there is an A/C unit in the front of the bus and the mountain evenings and nights help it cool down nicely. To keep it cooler, you can also use the reflective sky light covers and closing windows and roof fans and all the insulated window shades helps with both heating or cooling. Please feel free to sit in the driver's seat and make bus like noises without actually attempting to use any of the steering controls!
