Description

The Old Workshop is nestled in the heart of the beautiful historic village of Great Easton. It sits proudly independent of the 550-year-old Thatched Cottage so you have independent private access to this newly refurbished and peaceful space. The space The Old Workshop sits proudly at The Thatched Cottage in the heart of the beautiful historic village of Great Easton. The Thatched Cottage is a medieval house, originally starting life as an open hall house built around 1450-1550. From the mid-18th century until 1907 it was an alehouse known as The Crown. In 1810 the owner was Richard Collins. It is believed to be the only medieval house in Great Easton to survive with its full floor plan intact. You are staying in the beautifully newly converted Old Workshop situated at the rear of The Thatched Cottage. In the garden between The Old Workshop and The Thatched Cottage, Time Team uncovered a Roman beehive quern. A beehive quern is a hand-operated mill used to grind grain into flour. The episode of Time Team can be found on YouTube! Great Easton is a beautiful historic village, surrounded by magnificent walks, incredible country pubs and awe inspiring wildlife. Great Easton sits in the stunning Welland Valley amidst the rolling South Leicestershire countryside nestled up between Rutland and Northamptonshire. The Old Workshop is a beautifully newly renovated space. Upon entering the entrance hall you will find the spacious and peaceful bedroom with a king -sized bed, eating space, TV & ensuite. You also have access to a kitchenette and utility space. Here you will find a microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Outside there is a lovely seating overlooking the quintessential English garden filled with roses and sweet peas in the summer. This is our family home and so this beautiful garden is also enjoyed by us. Upon leaving the The Old Workshop you can choose one of many stunning walks through the beautiful countryside. All the photos on the listing are taken on walks directly accessible on foot from The Old Workshop. These include to the Eyebrook Reservoir, up to Neville Holt (with the famous opera house) or across to the historic Rockingham Castle to mention just a few options. Our neighbours, the renowned Eyebrook Wild Bird Feed, sell locally made cake, bread, milk and meat from the farm from their converted stables and to the other end of Church Bank you will find The Great our fantastic little coffee house. Here you can include in delicious locally made pastries (from The Garage Bakehouse in Market Harborough) with freshly made tea and coffee - what a treat! Guest access Parking is conveniently outside the cottage. During your stay We live in The Thatched Cottage, so will be on hand if you need anything. Other things to note We welcome well-behaved dogs and can make up a small camp bed/cot for any small people. We have a little Westie and guinea pigs who have relative freedom in the garden. So if you are bringing your well-behaved four-legged one please keep him/her on a lead in the garden.
