Description
Perfect for one or two couples or one couple with children. WestView sits 25 feet from the edge of Whetstone Pond with views of Russell Mountain and spectacular sunsets from its 7 acre perch. I live at a campsite which is barely visible from the cabin. Our one neighbor, also barely visible through the trees, loves their privacy as well. The space WestView is 750sq ft on the first floor and has a large loft with a king bed, sitting area and desk. You enter the kitchen from the back yard sitting area with a franklin stove for warmth and ambiance and grill for cooking. Once inside it seems as if you're sitting on the water. One "camp" can be seen in the distance on the western shore and the adjacent cabin to the south is barely visible thru the trees The kitchen invites the cook in you to get to it:) It comes well equipped and has everyday necessary supplies in the cabinets. Bathroom has a big tub/shower with its view of the pond and has a stacked washer and dryer. Comfortable queen first fl bedroom with a view of the water thru the open "barn" style door and thru the side window through the trees to the north. View from all rooms is almost too much to take in. Guest access All except closet in the loft. Other things to note There are two areas intended for outdoor eating and hanging out. On the lakefront, there’s a table set up for six people, and it has an umbrella, which is hard to keep in place because of the wind but with full view of the lake and the mountains, it’s a great spot and near the fire pit. The advantage of In the backyard behind the cabin is that it’s out of the wind and out of the sun later in the day. Being on the water with mountains in the distance provides a remarkable sight. Changes in weather are announced by changes in the wave direction. I’ve been fortunate to witness pairs of pileated woodpeckers landing in nearby trees, and bald eagles, swooping down toward the lake in an effort to have a duck for dinner. Occasional sighting of a moose on the outlet is a bonus and a big deal up here.
