Relax on the front porch, warm up by the fire pit & enjoy a private picnic on the banks of the Brazos River. Just 17 minutes from downtown Waco, Baylor University, & Magnolia Silos. This charming spot is the perfect country retreat. The space Located on the banks of the Brazos River, it is considered river view only as the bank is steep and rugged. But the view is beautiful. You may see bald eagles early in the morning flying over the river channel. A small antelope has made her home with the cattle across the fence from the silo. She is quite skittish but is seen frequently. The silo is located under old, huge pecan trees that were probably here back in the 1700s when the Huaco Indians had a campground about 1/2 mile downriver. It is also common to see deer, wild pigs, coyotes, and many different small animals. The silo, itself, was originally used to store corn from a dairy. We relocated it to its present location and transformed it into the small, cottage home it is today. My husband and I did all the designing and work ourselves. He likes windmills, and I quilts, thus the theme is windmills and quilts. It is unique in every way. We enjoyed each step in bringing the silo to fruition. And it is our sincere hope you will enjoy your stay just as much. Guest access You will have the whole silo and surrounding acre to enjoy. The private lane goes right to the carport just a few steps from the door which has an electronic keypad for your convenience. The covered front porch is a great place to have coffee in the morning while you look for bald eagles. The fire pit is located a few steps away. The only time it is not available is during county burn bans. A gas grill and/or picnic table is available by request. Other things to note Because of the proximity to the river and small living space, our property may not be your best choice for toddlers and small children. They cannot be allowed outside without adult supervision at all times.
