Our beautiful NY farm offers hiking trails, spectacular views and wide open spaces for guests to enjoy. The location is in a country setting yet minutes to Albany and Schenectady, During your stay, guests may take part in full equine farm experiences or wellness - rejuvenation retreats, for an additional fee. More details upon request. Guest access Guests have full - private access to the yurt, parking is a short distance from your front door. The Yurt does not have running water or bathroom facilities within it. The bathroom building is approximately 200 feet from the yurt and offers 3 restrooms, 2 with showers. An outside sink (cold water only) is located on the yurt deck for access to potable water. The yurt is located on a 156 acre equine rescue sanctuary and is a short walk to the main stable, hiking areas. From the wraparound deck guests enjoy beautiful views of the Adirondack mountains and horses grazing in their pastures. Guests can enjoy a relaxing walk on the farm meeting our rescued minis, donkeys, horses and Nigerian Dwarf goats. Guests can even arrange a tour of the main stable and participate in an equine-led experience or help our team with the feed and care of the rescues. (an added donation is appreciated for all interactive experiences) Hiking trails and relaxing on the farm are a wonderful way to unwind and enjoy nature. Other things to note Peaceful Acres Horses is a 501 c 3 charitable organization, proceeds from guest stays benefit the feed & care fund for the rescued equine residents. Other things you can enjoy while at the farm include an equine-led experience with the rescued horses, enjoy a hike with the minis horses or miniature goats, or participate in your very own equine-led coaching session with one of our Leadership - Horses. Hiking trails at the Plotter Kill Preserve are a short 3 mile drive away from the farm. The preserve offers beautiful waterfalls, hiking opportunities and a beautiful nature setting. For cyclists - the Erie Canal Bike Path is only 1.5 miles from the farm with parking on Rte 5s. The path is very well maintained and offers cyclists a peaceful - enjoyable ride along the Erie Canal and Mohawk River. Schenectady is 15 minutes, Albany 30 minutes, Saratoga Springs is 45 minutes, Lake George is 1.5 hours away from the farm.
