Hulo Farmstay near Puerto Galera

HULO is an ethnic Mangyan term for the source of flow. A family-run, off-the beaten path farmstay nestled in the native lands of the ethnic Mangyan community, and a stone's throw away from the pristine and untouched beauty of the rivers and mountains of Mindoro. This is not a popular tourist destination so expect to witness the local life away from the bustling tourism of Puerto Galera, with small villages dotted along the way. The space ‼️IMPORTANT‼️ GETTING THERE - The location is in an authentically rural area. It is best for those who wish to experience probinsya life. - This may also mean transportation may not be the most convenient - Bringing of own car is only recommended for 4WD, due to rough roads + 1 river crossing - Alternatively, we can help arrange for transport via our contacts, for a fee - Public transport from Manila is possible: Batangas port (Roro) - Abra de Ilog/Puerto galera - L300 Van. You can ask us for details. FOOD - There is a small village 2km away with stores. - Alternatively, we can arrange our caretaker to prepare your meals at your request for a fee (for the ingredients and cooking) GOING AROUND - We can arrange river trekking (with guide) and beach hopping (with bangka) for a fee. INTERNET & ELECTRICITY - We have internet access via starlink. - Please note that sometimes we get brown-outs but we have generator as back-up. THE FARM You will have the whole half a hectare farm sitting at the edge of rice fields and an ethnic Mangyan community, looking at the mountains of Mindoro. THE HOUSE: The native house has 2 bedrooms, a living room, outdoor kitchen and a balcony where you can also lay an additional futon and sleep in the crisp countryside air. There is an outdoor kitchen equipped with BBQ/grilling area. Kitchen utensils are available as well. Other things to note We recommend staying for at least 3 nights to experience the area. We recognize its remoteness so it might be better to maximize your stay to a few days. There are more things to do around the area: Explore the rivers, the mountains and the sea. The Farm sits at its centre. We can arrange for guides and activities such as beach hopping, fishing lessons, river trek, mountain hiking to Sitio Latag - a highland mangyan community.
