Break free from the everyday to the charming, historic town of Smithville! This home has been fully gutted and remodeled by the owners adding modern touches and amenities while preserving the historic charm of the home. There are 2 bedrooms and two full bathrooms with soaking tubs and showers. We are located on a corner lot on a peaceful quiet street walking distance to historic downtown, boutiques, antique stores, artists, eateries and weekend activities. The space The property is located on a corner lot a few blocks from Main St. and historic downtown where you'll find antique stores , restaurants , art galleries or a Sunday farmers market. We are also 30 min from the Austin airport traveling away from the Austin traffic. Our own Buescher Park is a great place to take multi level hikes, bike rides or just to enjoy the birds and nature. The park is just a few miles up the road. The city of Bastrop is 13 mi North on 71 and has many restaurants and a live music scene. Jeff the owner is a builder by trade and was keen on preserving the home's historic charm, including the original wood floors, while adding modern features and beautiful millwork throughout. The home is clean, comfortable and cozy with 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths. There is an office that houses a modem, desk, ergonomic chair, printer and Peloton bike. Lounge in the living room, sit in front of the fireplace, or watch your streaming channels or YouTube TV. There is also a reading nook, some games and a baby grand piano in the living room. The front porch is a great place to read or enjoy your coffee, tea, or wine while listening to the sounds of nature and enjoying the flowers, butterflies and hummingbirds. The bedrooms have comfortable beds and natural fiber linens. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other a king bed. The remodeled chef's kitchen is equipped with modern appliances and features. There is everything you would need to prepare a meal. It’s fun to cook in or to just sit around the big island visiting with friends or family. The dining room is across from the kitchen and features a large table that seats up to 8 people. There are two modern bathrooms. Each bathroom has a shower and a bathtub. Activities or areas of interest in the area include: -Round Top Antique Fair: 28 mi. -Bastrop (if you need more essentials than Smithville can provide): 13 mi -Austin: 40 mi. -Formula One Racing: 38mi -Buescher State Park (Smithville): provides multi level hiking trails, biking, camping and bird watching. -Bastrop State Park: 25 min. Provides 7 miles of hiking trails, fishing, swimming (make swimming reservations online) -Colovista Golf Course: 10mi -Rising Phoenix Adventure Tours & Events (Smithville/Bastrop) offers river & fishing adventures Smithville Brewing Company Smithville Farmers Market on Main St is on Sunday 10-1. Some good restaurants: -Murphy's Steak House (fairly close and a nice country drive - near Paige) -The Wine Bar in Smithville -Mama's Kitchen in Smithville -Comfort Cafe in Smithville: a special place with a good story is open on weekends only and occasionally has long lines for breakfast. -Bastrop: has several good restaurants on Main St. and along the river. They also have a live music scene. There is usually some type of event , festival or craft fair every weekend. The 1832 Bastrop Farmers Market on Chestnut is on Sat 10-2 with several farm fresh food stands and artisans. -Neighbors in Bastrop has pub/bistro food and pizza as well as live music most nights (singers & songwriters) Some popular restaurants in downtown Bastrop include Maxine’s, Gracie’s and Paw Paws.
