Pumbaa House, Prahova, Romania

Located in an old plum orchard, at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains at about 600 meters altitude, this cottage lets you experience Romanian rural life. The cottage is located in the small village of Melicesti, on a dead-end road in a hilly area on a closed private estate. The cottage is easily accessible via a staircase to an elevated terrace on a paved walkway about 120 meters from the public road. The owners also live on the property, within a 10-minute walk. The space The house has a ground floor and an upper floor. The upper floor is a spacious bedroom with a full double bed (2x90 by 200 cm) and storage spaces. The ground floor is approximately 7 x 6 meters and includes the living area, the kitchen area and the bathroom (with shower, sink, toilet, washing machine with coin machine). The fully equipped kitchen area is equipped with all the necessities (coffee cup machine, dishwasher, toaster, cutlery, crockery, etc.). The supplied tap water comes from rainwater and from a deep well on the property. It is regularly tested and meets drinking water requirements in principle. However, for your safety and convenience, there is a drinking water bottle (19 liters) in the kitchen which you can use for your drinking water. We fill empty bottles for free. Smoking and use of open fire (for example candles) is strictly prohibited inside the house. The access to the house is via an elevated terrace that can be reached via a wide staircase. The elevated terrace (3 x 6 meters) provides an opportunity to sit outside, sunbathe and relax, and to observe wildlife. Arrival and departure times are guidelines. Let us know if you want to deviate from this, and we will confirm whether this is possible or not. Guest access The area directly around Pumbaa House (grassland) will be maintained for your comfort. You are free to roam around. Please note that the property has wildlife: You better stick to the foot paths and grassland around Pumbaa House. If you wish to explore the forest and other areas, please contact us and we can arrange to accompany you. At night, ONLY stay on the footpaths which are illuminated by sensor-activated-lights. The pond is not only home to many fishes, but also home to non-dangerous water snakes and water turtles; please do not disturb them. If you want to try out your luck to catch a fish, please let us know and we can guide you. Parties/events are not allowed. Please inform the property owner in advance about any invited guests. Other things to note The pricing is for max 4 people per night, whether you stay together in one room or you use the two rooms does not make any difference. One single person same price. We have a large private and closed parking place available suitable for several vehicles. We prefer to keep the property dark and quiet at night. However, for your safety and comfort, the access paths to the house will be illuminated through sensors at night. Guests must be quiet between 22:00 and 08:00. No music outside at all times. In case you are specifically interested in the wildlife of the property, please feel free to contact us. Although it can never be guaranteed to observe a specific wild animal, we can guide you to increase your luck. Please do not feed the animals (dogs, cats, wild animals, fishes, etc.) you might encounter. All our own animals are regularly fed and taken care of by management. The small size dishwater only needs ½ soap tablet per washing cycle. For longer staying guests: Coins for the washing machine can be obtained @ 20 RON per coin.
